Reminds me of our old dowg, Puddin-head. The girls had left poor Ernie doll out.  But Puddin-head loved to play with it. She'd bring it back but wouldn't let go. Unless you thru it, she wasn't interested.

Hope that not permanent marker.

It actually was! I offered to replace the keys but they were going to try and paint them.

PVC solvent/primer will probably take it off.

I doubt it, they’re very thin ivory but even if it worked they didn’t want to pay me enough to do it. Also if you notice they were all chipped and some were missing. They need to be replaced but they’re too cheap.

BTW is was a 1902 Steinway, well worth the $500-$600 to replace the key tops.

Occasionally I see decals on cars that say something like “Back off! Stick shift. May roll backwards”

I think they ought to learn to properly drive a stick shift or get something they can drive without rolling backwards.
I learned drive with a manual transmission. Rolling back was taboo, verboten, forbidden and would get you a slap in the head from your Dad or your friends.
I learned to drive a stick in the hills of Pennsylvania.

Can you say "heal-toe" :P. The e-brake was handy when learning too!

The words “If you put that brake on it’ll be the last time you drive my truck” seemed to incentivize me not to do that.

Actually my father taught me to use the emergency brake when getting started on a hill. He said this was just a temporary thing until I learned how to do it right, but at least I wasn't rolling backwards.

I learned to drive on a '73 VW Beetle. Clutches were non forgiving on those things. I hated that car, but I learned how to drive a manual transmission in it. Surprised that my stepfather doesn't still have neck problems from the "learning curve".

Riding a clutch on a hill is truly an art as is the ole heel toe. I miss those days...sorta.

Me too, sorta. ;)

I had a stick up until 2003 when I sold my ‘93 Ford F150. It had a 300 straight 6 and a 5 speed stick. It was a bear in traffic but I loved that truck. I wish I wouldn’t have sold it.

Last manual car was a 1970 Cutless Supreme.  It had a "Rock Crusher" 4 speed with 2.2 low gear. I had to traid it off when insurance was higher than my monthly payment although I had a spotless driving record.
