Miles
Good day, I've been looking for parts for an 1873 Colt SAA, Specifically a cylinder stop bolt and a trigger screw. I can't find either anywhere in Canada but there are parts for the aftermarket. I'm wondering if anyone has used replica gun parts in original Colts. I bought two packages of replica 1858 parts to use in my 1858 Remington and two of the 14 fit. One screw and the hand, nothing else. I'd like to know if brands of replica gun parts will fit a Colt before I buy. Thank you.
Rip Snorter
I got parts here when I needed them - they used to have very expert folks you could talk to. https://www.brownells.com/parts/Colt/Single%2bAction%2bArmy/index.htm

Goody, SASS #26190
It's my understanding that current Pietta parts will fit a 1st or 2nd gen Colt. https://www.vtigunparts.com/store/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=74&cat=Pietta+1873+Colt+GWII

Miles
Thank you for your replies and suggestions. I tried Brownells, they have none, they also will not ship to Canada, or I haven't been able get them to anyway. Jack First says "no products to list in this category". I have a "Check Stock" inquiry going with VTI. That's a great pic of the bolt and trigger screws. Mine measures to the 1st gen specs and the screw I got from the dealer in Canada is the same as the specs for the Uberti cattleman S.A. Thanks again, Al
Miles
I just reread my first post on this subject. It reads like I need the screws for the trigger and the bolt. I need the bolt itself and the trigger screw.
TN Mongo, SASS #61450
I just looked at ebay. I typed in Colt saa. On the first page I found your bolt and bolt screw. Both were new old stock and at very reasonable prices . If you look at the other pages, I'm sure you'll also find your trigger screw. I have bought numerous parts for Colts in the past off of ebay and have been very happy with them.
Tex Jones, SASS 2263
I'm not sure of the current status, but Peacemaker Specialists has original Colt parts. Eddie passed away and the company remained active selling parts. Their web site is still active and they ship to Canada. 805 238 9100.
Rip Snorter
Well Dam! Rest in Peace, Eddie. Nice fellow to talk to - he did a great action job for me.

Miles
I've tried ebay, but the ones I've seen listed have 'will not ship to Canada".

The only USA company that sells original Colt parts to Canada, if they have what you want in stock, is Numrich Gun Parts.
Griff
You need to know the vintage of the Colt SAA you have. Peacemaker Specialists have the 1st style, Wisner's has the new style.

Next problem…

As you can see from the Kuhnhuasen picture above, thread counts on the screws varied over the years. So did the shape of some of the other parts. There were three generations of the Colt SAA. The 1st Gen ran from 1873 until just before WWII in 1940. Serial numbers ran from 1 to 357,859. The 2nd Gen was made between 1956 and 1975. Serial Numbers started at 0001SA through 73,319SA. The 3rd Gen started in 1976 and the 3rd Gen is what is still in production today. Serial Numbers for 1976 through 1978 were 80,000SA through 99,999SA. Then in 1978 Serial Numbers began at SA01001 through SA99,999in 1993. In 1993 they started over again with S02001A through S26,699A towards the end of 1999. I do not know what Serial numbers came after that. I bought some 2nd Gen parts years ago from Peacemaker Specialists. I was very pleased with them. Abilene, SASS # 27489
Miles posted on CASCity as well. The serial number dates it to 1897, First Generation.
Miles
That's right it's a first gen. Matthew Duncan, thanks for the offer to ship for Brownells. they do not have what I'm looking for. I did get a couple screws and a bolt, the bolt is pretty worn so I'm still looking for that part.
