You can cast an "informal" vote, which doesn't get counted, but you still have to show up to get your name ticked off or you get a fine for not voting. There are alternatives to showing up on the day, but you still have to vote. I once had a woman tell me that she votes "informal" every time. I told her to never let me hear her complaining about the government again. She looked at me with a surprised face and asked why. I looked her in the eye and said ... "because you didn't vote for them, and you didn't vote against them" ...... She seemed to get offended for some reason ... I have seldom seen her since, and whilst I am civil on the odd occasion we have met, there is almost no chance of any form of friendship ..... ever. (there are other reasons too ) 1 Quote

But some words were unacceptable. She would use the evil S word - the vulgar term for feces - but if I were to use the evil F word - the vulgar term for sexual intercourse - she would get very upset. Either you cuss, or you don't. having moved to Kenya in 8th grade, I knew better than to use American cuss words, but I happily picked up most of the British exclusive cuss words while there. Quote
