EE I'm a tad souther than you and they're saying we may get 1+ inches of ICE and THEN 5 - 12 inches of SNOW on top of it. Jeez, come on, ice AND snow!?!? Can't a guy get a break?

Oh well, as long as we can keep the electricity going we should be ok for the week. If the electricity goes out... I don't want to even think about it.

Yep, watching the news right now. Big blizzard warnings until Wednesday PM. Panic buying. Could be the biggest snow since the Winter of '79. Could be the end of life as we know it. According to the weatherman that is. ;)

I hate to burst your bubble, EE, but it NEVER SNOWS IN ST. LOUIS.

When I was a kid I always wanted snow so I could go sleigh riding.

Nuttin'

And I was only 60 miles south of St. Louis.

Seriously, stay safe.

When we have snow in the forecast it is like somebody dropped a bomb in the mall. The talking heads

just love to play it up. If it is a really slow day, when they get snow in the mountains becomes a thing of wonder. The really big wonder is why anybody would be influenced by them.

Yep, hearing about 3-4" early Tues to get us warmed up then about 18-20 Wed into Thurs. This aint funny folks, I'm never going to be able to get onto the range to do some load testing with the 45-70.

Ya know, I've driven since I was old enough to reach the pedals.......I've driven everything from tractors and heavy equipment to big trucks to dragsters............

But I've never been as scared as I was today coming home from St. Louis!!!!

Heavy icing, several cars/trucks off in the ditch, and one guy in a Ford Ranger pulling a little enclosed trailer fishtailed and came within inches of nailing our Durango him at highway speed, and us at about 35. Guess he thought it would be fun to pass us goin' 70!!

My fear of course due to the fact that my Wife, Boys, and Daughter were in the car with me.

St. Louis weather this morning said no precip until late afternoon...........

BOY WERE THEY WRONG!!!!

By the grace of God, we made it!! I don't scare too easy, so when I say that, you know it was slick!!

Y'all be careful out there in this mess!!

I'm gonna stay at home for about 3 days!!

If I never saw another snowflake the rest of my life it won't hurt my feeling one little bit.

I second that notion!! :D

I like snow, I really do, but as I get older I like driving in it less and less. And the more the cold bothers me.

Ya remember the movie AIRPLANE!?

The part where he's landin' the plane and he's sweatin' so bad it's pourin' off him?

That's what I looked like today drivin' home!!

Had to go though. One of the boys had a doc. appointment that we couldn't miss.

Be safe y'all!!

Yup, we got the same weather people up here in Kansas City.

Ice is starting build up a bit here which concerns me more than snow. Right now, I hope the snow starts sooner than later. My Jeep can handle the snow, but it doesn't do better than anyone else on ice.

Here in the DFW area they are predicting 1/10" to 1/4" of ice/sleet then 1-3" of snow for tomorrow morning starting around 6AM. We are under a winter weather warning from 3AM to 3PM tomorrow.

I'll just be camped out in front of the TV in the morning watching all the people on the news that "Just had to go somewhere" slide all over the high 5 and other overpasses.

We drove a hundred miles on a sheet of ice today (St. Louis back to Hannibal).

The Weather man said 12-18 inches of snow, now the latest I've heard was 12-21 inches.

First time in years we've been right on target for that kind of snow in NE Misery.

I hope I'm snowed in...........Gotz food, water, and all I need to keep warm. I'll

Just spend a few days at home workin' on things here. :D

Watch, after all the hipe, we'll just get a dusting!!

The ice can stay away though, I had enough of that today.

I drove and owned a KenWorth W-900-L, 18 wheeler. Bought it in 1998, wif 523 miles on it and got out of it wif 2.2 million miles !! Now, hoss, dats some drivin' time. Didn't let grass grow under my feet !! Payed off da truck, house, and bought a new car too !!

I thought I had seen it all, till a young lady, who was travelin' at 66 mph in a 55 mph zone, rear ended me in a near white ot near Bloomington, Ill. I was runnin' 25 mph wif my 4-ways on !

Da state trooper asked her why she hit me and she said she taught I was turnin and was going to pass me.

In a near white out, on ice and snow covered interstate highway !!

And when asked why didn't she stop, she said,"He's got 18 brakes. He can stop 18 times faster !!!"

Drove each and every winter like it was my 1st winter. Just cuz I "can stop 18 times faster", don't mean dat 40 tons of freight chasin' me can or will !!dry.gif

Dad drove for 35 years. I was born into it and still watch what I'm doin' as if I'm takin' my first drivers test.

No such thing as too careful. It's the 4 wheelers that worry me, especially when they try to become a hood orniment on said

KW W900L.

I respect the older truck drivers like you and Dad, but some of these youngsters that they are turnin' loose scare the sh!t out of me.

Drive safe y'all!!

Hawk, I can remember driving from KS back to CO on I-70 this one time, I got back on the highway even though the radio said it was closed, the gate was open so I went. I got up behind a truck and just stayed with him, if he'd have gone into the ditch I'd have followed right along. I assume we stayed on the highway but you couldn't see anything.

Guess I've grown wiser, or maybe less brave, today I'd have grabbed a motel room and waited it out.

Miz Grizz and I are being really thankful for shelter and heat today.
