  2. 15 stripes for 15 states. Originally they added a new star and a new stripe for each new state. But after the 15, they decided that the flag would quickly get unwieldy- can you imagine a flag with 50 stripes? So when they got the 16th state, they went back to 13 stripes, and just added a new star for each one.
  3. Usually make my own pasta sauces but if short on time I keep some jars handy. Always take just a little water (after dumping the bulk of the sauce from the jar) and close lid and shake to get the last of the sauce out. Hey saving ten cents per jar adds up over time! Regards Gateway Kid
  4. I will be contacting Bill Hagerty to urge our other Tennessee Senator to sign on to this legislation!!
  5. Female Welder at the Richmond Shipyards in Richmond, California - Early 1942 The four Richmond Shipyards were run by Permanente Metals and were part of the Kaiser Shipyards. During WW2, Richmond built more ships than any other shipyard, turning out as many as three ships in a single day. 6. Me with an 87 . be a train wreck waitin' to happen CB
  7. Good news!! Now let the courts take it the rest of the way and permanently enjoin these criminals from infringing on our rights!!
  8. People are mostly using SxS because they are the most reliable. I'm seeing more fast shooters running pump action 97's lately it seems but they are getting harder to find and the running joke is there are 97 ways to break them. I was told if I'm going to run a 97 I better have a backup for when it breaks. The pump action seem to be the easiest to get proficient at for a beginner. The 1887 lever action seems prone to jamming a lot. Whether it's a gun issue or a user issue I can't say for sure but whenever they show up to a match I'm at the shooters tend to struggle with them. They also need modified so you can load 2 at a time to really allow you to shoot them quickly too. I've read on here that the 1887 is probably the fastest shotgun out there when they don't jam but they also seem to take the most practice too.
  9. So let me see if I have this straight…. he had not been charged = no crime no body cams by either ATF or local PD = non compliance with department regulations records requested of both ATF and local PD are being stonewalled (as seems to happen a lot with this administration) = coverup in play Had not been informed he was being investigated = violation of right to due process LEO showed up ready to ensure no record of entry (prepared to tape over a camera, is that really proper procedure?) = they KNEW what they were doing was probably wrong kicked in the door without warning for a non violent crime (what was the rationale for that?) = burglary at minimum, many places home invasion, violation of right to be secure from unwarranted searches (what was the subject of the warrant anyway?) no record of violence or other criminal activity on the part of the victim = could have picked him up at work, so intimidation was clearly the goal Guy is dead, we don’t know how many rounds fired by either party or who fired first, most likely never will (pretty amazing that in tight quarters, like an entry way, no officers were injured by victim firing before they did, very odd) I have been a long time supporter of LEO’s but the level of malice, criminality and outright unprofessional behavior brings into my mind the idea that weaponization towards the public by those sworn to serve and protect is on full display and becoming more so at an unprecedented level. I can only pray that this is an aberration and those responsible are held accountable to the maximum extent possible, just as they dealt out the ultimate punishment for a crime that is both poorly defined and is nowhere near a capital offense Regards Gateway Kid
  10. Anything with Rickles was hysterical!
  11. Broomhandle Mausers were essentially early SBRs. Given; 1) the state of air power in WW I (wood and fabric aircraft, engagements at eyeball range); 2) the fact that early in the war the aircrews were essentially shooting at each other with pistols, and; 3) the crewman shown is a gunner in an aircraft and would be engaging enemy aircraft from the beam aft, there's a good chance volley fire from 10 (prob. 7.63X25) broomhandles would work about as well as a string from a machine gun.
  12. Several current and former World Champions in different categories use the lever shotgun. Stone Creek Drifter immediately comes to mind. And you can’t forget Lassiter!! Lassiter is also the “go to” guy for tuning the ‘87!!
  13. Deuce Do you have any comment? Tried to send you private message but would not go through. My dealer said he had talked to you and is expecting the Dragoon tomorrow or Tuesday as Monday is holiday
  14. Whiskey snuck in a new event this year. Don't miss the Cowboy Bingo, Thursday afternoon beginning at 3:30pm. Get your cards and get chances to win some great prizes!
  15. Welcome to the game. Try before you buy-anything. Lever action shotguns, pumps, hammered or hammerless doubles are all used in the game. They all have their quirks and many need to be worked on to be competitive, if that's what you're looking to be. Go to a few matches and ask around. I'm pretty sure there will be folks who let you try out their guns.
  16. I am interested in the upcoming Buffalo shoots this year and will try to make it. I just got 1885 Highwall and will work on the 45-70 load for it. Usually, the Buffalo shoot is black powder only, but I think I saw a smokeless one in your video. if it is allowed, it will take the pressure off me to get the BP load worked out as well
  17. Plenty of folks use the '87. Nowhere near as many as the SxS but the '87 seems to be gaining popularity. At the Kansas State match last month I believe there were 7 or 8 cowfolk using the '87. The '87 ain't an easy gun to run smoothly but when you figger it out there ain't nothin like it.
  18. The 1887 is a popular shotgun to be used, although most folks use SxS shotguns. You can YouTube several shooters using them. There’s a good review that was put out by Deuce Stevens on the new cimarron 1887 shotguns and you might check it out.
  19. Entirely new to SASS, I see everyone running side by sides in videos, but I haven't seen any lever action shotguns, is there a reason for that? Figured I'd ask now before I buy anything, and learn that they're prone to jamming or the like.
  20. Today
  21. This happened because someone in a powerful place wanted him dead.
  22. I don't know about that. The rear sight on a C96 is marked to 1000 meters! (With the buttstock and at the lowest elevation of the rear sight, my Broomhandle is pretty accurate at 100 yards. I haven't tried shooting it beyond that.)
