Alpo
I just saw a Glock commercial. The man is staring at his Labrador. The dog is staring back at his man. And the narrator is talking about loyalty, both given and received. Then it said something about how "a bond was forged". I don't know - I just thought using FORGED in a commercial for a plastic gun sameSEEMED kind of --- off.
Cheyenne Ranger, 48747L
so what about "a bond was molded"? ☺
Pat Riot
The slide is forged. The barrel is forged. Some internal parts are forged. I love this notion that a Glock is a “plastic gun”. The lib whack jobs of the 80’s called them plastic in their sensational news articles. I guess their silliness stuck, huh? I would take a Glock over most so-called all metal reliable pistols any time, any day and that includes any 1911.

All of those 80's lib whacks kept running the "It'll go right through a metal detector" moniker over and over.
John Kloehr
I respect the Glocks, they just do not fit my hand. Back-strap mods can fix this, but then there is a certain vibration polymer frames have and metal guns don't. 1911s fit my hands with the right grips (usually a bit thinner) so maybe that is a wash. There is still a certain vibration. Maybe it comes down to the operating system, I just like the 1911 more. Friendships are forged, so I get the ad. Still like this ad:

Politicians are experts at manipulation while covering their butts. They told the truth, technically speaking, a Glock will go right through a metal detector. They omitted that a Glock would be detected by said metal detector and implied the opposite.

I picked up a Glock 34 and within short order my Colt 1991A1 went to my daughter. It was my last 1911 style gun. I have had Glocks ever since but I prefer to carry revolvers. Go figure. I have bought Glock models that I didn’t like. The 19, 26, 43 and 48. I tried them. I didn’t like them. I have XXL hands. The grip hump on those models don’t sit right in my hands. I like full sized Glocks. I have a 45 (9mm) and two 34s. I would like a 47 as well. Thank goodness there are many different guns to choose from. It would be like living in the USSR if there were only a couple of gun models to choose from. I am sure some politicians would love that.

The slide and some internal parts are likely Metal Injection Moulded with some minor machining to within tolerance. The barrel might be from a forged billet that is machined. We can't say what it is without knowing what generation commercial Alpo watched.
