Self defense not fundamental right

Recommended Posts

Hmmm....

"The very purpose of a Bill of Rights was to withdraw certain subjects from the vicissitudes of political controversy, to place them beyond the reach of majorities and officials and to establish them as legal principles to be applied by the courts. One's right to life, liberty, and property, to free speech, a free press, freedom of worship and assembly, and other fundamental rights may not be submitted to vote; they depend on the outcome of no elections."
: Robert H. Jackson, US Supreme Court Justice West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette, 319 U.S. 624 (1943)

Seems as if the Court called the RKBA for any reason a fundamental civil right, especially in defense of life, liberty, and property, despite what The Wise Latina claims.

All these Leftists  think this way. Remember when Rosie the Fat was giving Tom Selleck a ration for being in the NRA while hiring armed security for her adopted kids?

A couple excerpts from the story on Breitbart:

"Armed guards protect Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor although she joined a dissent in McDonald v. Chicago (2010), rejecting “a private right of armed self-defense.”

"In the early portion of the dissent’s conclusion, Breyer/Ginsberg/Sotomayor claimed, “In sum, the Framers did not write the Second Amendment in order to protect a private right of armed self-defense. There has been, and is, no consensus that the right is, or was, ‘fundamental.’”

Sotomayor enjoys armed protection while rejecting claims that the Second Amendment is in place to shelter the People’s “private right to self-defense."

I have to laugh at the D.C. thug who tried to carjack a car belonging to the protection detail.
It's a pity the thug survived.
Never send a 9 to do a 45's job, I guess.

I came up with this after reading a post by Rip Snorter over on the Team SASS forum.

We should get together whenever possible with other lawful gun owners and go places and travel in groups, all of us armed!

Do this and designate one member of the group as the person that the rest of us are bodyguards/security for.

We are no less entitled to armed security than any politician or celebrity!!  Use their tactics to our benefit!!

I like the idea, unfortunately none of us are politicians or celebrities. However I DO go everywhere armed. 1911, open carry. I frequently get complimented on it too.

Same here!!

As far as being a celebrity, you’re known worldwide!!  Not a joke!  Folks all over the SASS forums have heard of you!!

Almost anyone here can make the same claim!!

Think about it!!

I would certainly protect a friend, family and self need not be mentioned. I am armed everywhere it is legal, probably 95% or a bit more.  I don't go other places unless absolutely necessary.  What really gets me is preaching by the officially protected against our God given natural rights.  If they believe, they should save the taxpayers (Us) a bunch of money by refusing bodyguards.  When they are willing to bet their lives on the society they created, I'll continue as I have all my adult life, make popcorn and watch.

No official that supports anti-Second Amendment laws should have armed guards.  Lead by example.

It also wouldn't hurt to have a provision in the Constitution saying that any person in office who voted in favor of legislation that the Supreme Court rules unconstitutional is to be removed from office.

With the proviso that 2nd Amendment supporting officials can carry nationwide.  The others, not.

 Sometimes, when I’m in a comedic mood, I introduce myself as “The world renowned Blackwater”!

When I’m performing with the band, I often introduce everyone and then tell the audience that I’m “in the WITLESS protection program and can’t divulge my real name”!

So! Technically, I’m a celebrity!!  I’m known internationally. I’m recognized on three continents!!  THEREFORE, I AM ENTITLED TO PERSONAL SECURITY, just like those politicians and the other elites who claim that privilege!! <_<

That’s my story, blah blah blah!!  B)

Marxist idiots like Sotomayor and many, many others do not see life through the same lens that we do as gun owning mostly working class people.
They were brought up in wealth or in a very manipulated environment, like an inner city area with lots of left leaning politicians.

I find it interesting that in reading Sotomayor’s Bio she was born and raised in the Bronx in NYC, yet somehow she went to Princeton then Yale. Not sure how, but she did.
At these Universities the students and faculty live in a very protected environment. I have met professors that literally never left campus for months on end and when they did they went in a group to lectures, meetings, conferences, etc. in a protected group. They’re basically self-brainwashed and they convey their views onto students which become very much like them.

None of these types of people talk to or interact with people like us.
They don’t pay bills and have to budget for their wants and needs. Technically, they’re morons in the ways of the real world. I would pity them if they weren’t in positions of power. As it is I despise them.
I would love it if somehow all these elitists could live as average Americans for a time. I think they would come away with a completely different view on things and perhaps maybe even learn something about what it is to be a regular person having to live under their dictates, rules, regs and laws.
