Texas Jack Black Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 I would like to see some of the top 97 shooters If you show Widder please make sure he is not eating a NANNA SPLIT while shooting. Best Wishes
Jack Spade Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 The Outlaw Travis James has a lot of videos showing some of the fastest in Florida.
Widder, SASS #59054 Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 TJB, here are just a few of the best, atleast those I am aware. Hopefully, you can find some YouTube videos on them. Red Knee Deuce Stevens Sante Fe River Stan Missouri Traveler SideKick Hells Comin Copperhead Joe The Outlaw Travis James Arcadia Outlaw Midwest Hale (fast Cowgirl) AND, the fastest I've had the pleasure of seeing..... Gut C Gunman and his brother, Scrap P. There may not be a video of him, but PHANTOM is pretty darn fast with his 97 also. I'll probably think of a few more after I finish my Nanner Split......... 😀 ..........Widder
Idaho Gunslinger Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 Here's the Topic about this from last month.
Chicken George* Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 Here is a new video of Skrap P practicing before going to Tennessee to shoot against Widder. This is 4 in 2.29 and is live fire, even though it doesn't sound like it.
H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619 Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 Well, the title of this thread mentions wanting to see "the best 97 shooters." I note that it says "best" not "fastest." So, here's a video of me shooting my Black Diamond Trap Model, the absolute "best" 97 that money can buy.

It's crazy light (obviously a bit too light).

Long story short, I loaded up some far too light loads. But I need to get rid of them, no matter how embarrassing it may be. So, I'll dispose of them as best I can at locals. 10 Grains of Red Dot, 12 Gauge. I read that it was a good, mild load. Well, it's a mild load all right. But it sure ain't a good one! I upped to 12 grains. That one is still mild, but is far more respectable.

It probably would not have stuck in a 20" barrel.

Chicken George* Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 35 minutes ago, Texas Jack Black said: What make is that 97? This young man is FAST Thanks! It's an IAC CB (Coyote Cap) 97, setup and hard chromed by Outlaw Gambler. The stock and slide are from CompetitionStocks.com, which help a lot with balance and grip.
The Outlaw Travis James Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 There are a lot of 97 shooters on my YouTube Channel. While they have become fewer in recent times, you can go back and see them in the older playlists. One of the best would be EOT '21. I believe there were something like fourteen 97 shooters on our nineteen person posse. One of the advantages of my channel is that there are so many of us 97 crazies, that you can see many different loading techniques. Some of the ones to watch there would be: Santa Fe River Stan (before he switched to a double in Nov '21), Dang It Dan (before he switched to a double in Nov '21), Midwest Hale, Arcadia Outlaw, JP Law, Delta Glen, & The OTJ. Pay close attention to how each shooter operates the slide. We are all a little different. Also pay attention to how to the two from the right shooters pull the trigger with their middle finger for the first shot and the idex for the second. The techniques you will see are: Two From the Right - Midwest Hale, Chickie Winsome Three Over the Top (left) and one from the right - Santa Fe River Stan, Delta Glen Four Over the Top (left) - Arcadia Outlaw, JP Law, The OTJ, Dang It Dan My Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/TheOTJ I also have videos of Sidekick shooting a 97 at Ambush at Cavern Cove 2023. Check that playlist as well.
Santa Fe River Stan,36999L Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 Here's a video with some good angles for seeing how I shot the 97
Texas Jack Black Posted July 10, 2024 Author Posted July 10, 2024 Thank you all. Next question I saw a 97 that had a feed ramp ground into the action so that the shell is guided ito the barrel easier. Is this common?

Widder, SASS #59054 Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 I don't know why, because I feel good and healthy again, but since open heart 'bionic' surgery (Pig Valve) my rhythm seems to be off a little when needed the most. If the TN State had a 'water pistol' side match, I might have faired a little better...... You were sure smokin though. Great to watch you and those kids burn em down. ..........Widder
