Not gonna fall for that again….

I just pulled a batch out of wet tumbler. I had 45 colt / 45 acp and 30 cases of 44-40.  I did not think a problem because the case tolerances are so tight it would be extremely unlikely that cases would interfere with each other.  (Deep Breath here) Well………...28 of the 44-40 cases ended up in a mixed marriage. Will jot down another reason 44-40 is bad for mental health. LOL

Your's wasn't that bad!      You should try to get 9's out of 40's, or 40's out of 45's.      Brass picker not too fussy to caliber as long is hopefully brass       GW

Yep, done that more than once!

Stopped shootin’ 45s, and it stopped happening.

44-40 is a better caliber anyway!

Once in a while, I get an unforeseen 9 mm stuck in a 45 caliber when I’m dry tumbling.

I turn my Tumbler on and then hold the 45 case up of against the center stud. In about 10 to 15 seconds, I can pull the 9 mm out easily.

I shoot 32 HR Mag in my pistols and 38 Spl in my rifle. First time I wet tumbled at a friends house - didn’t occur to me. The 32 fit EXACTLY inside a 38Spl case! I hand sort before I tumble and it does NOT MATTER… I always miss one or two.

Hugs!

Okay, when you get a stuck case inside another, grab your handy dandy ACME kinetic bullet pullet, yeah the old hammer type, and smack it a couple times. It will pop right out.

So anyway. I sorted brass (44-40   45 colt  acp) and I can’t account for one 44-40 brass. I have sorted 3x’s so started doing the only thing I know to do. Hand load the 45 colt w/ black powder and will find during expanding. (Gosh having to hand load on a Thursday night! LOL) I could not be happier.

Indecently, I found (2) 45 colt brass with small primer going through sorting so maybe a good thing.  I found one sml primer 45 colt about a year ago and now two?

i can generally get mine appart but i try very hard now to sort and seperate so i dont get this - PITA

Howdy Fallon,

If you're going to mix brass like that you have to expect these illicit pairings. I suggest that you throw a couple of shot shells in with the brass. That way you can be sure that they get to the alter.

Some things one just SHOULDN'T confess in public!  Mixed marriages indeed!  A truly unholy union is a 38 Special backed rim first into a 45 when dry media cleaning... talk about wedgies!

you know there is that attraction that we were taught as kids that we seem to find hard to ignore even with the harping and school videos even the service warnings - im thinking you sometimes need to be just like the nuns in my catholic school background and keep things separated that you dont want combined
