I paid $600 for this one, it’s a Cleveland Police Commemorative,   it was unfired until I got my mitts on it! Great shooter!

Since the standard barrel lengths were 2 inch, 4 inch, 5 inch, and 6 inch, those 3 inch barreled guns might be considered "rare", and therefore they use that to justify that ungodly outrageous price.

3" K frames are desirable because they still have a full length ejector rod so you can kick the empties out easier than the stubby rods found on the 2 and 2 1/2" guns.

I would have paid that for it. Nice revolver. Love the inscription.

I would say today that “user grade” model 10s are around $650-$700 on average wherever I see them. I have seen a couple in the past year at $500-$550.

An email came today advertising police trade in 10-5 or 10-7 for $418 shipped each plus tax.  As @Dubious Don #56333 said, they used to be $100.  What does a user grade model 10 currently sell for in your area?

Palmetto State Armory.   Be aware that the ad also says may have rubber grips, condition varies.  The last pistol order I placed with them took about 2 weeks to ship.

They’re all gone now :(

Interesting. I don’t have a log in. Maybe folks with Log Ins can see items in limited supply?

Maybe it is a glitch on my end.  When I go to cart it won't let me increase the quantity past 1.

I did it allow you to buy it?

A while back I found out about Glock mags at a decent price on Gun Mag Whse. It would let me put them in the cart but I couldn’t actually buy them. I figured the problem was with my phone or connection so I logged out. When I came back they appeared as “Out of Stock”.

It let me start the checkout process.  I'd rather a Security Six for $25 more so I didn't finish the checkout.  Maybe it allows everything but the submit order button.

I bought this from a widow of a friend . He was a Cleveland policeman and cowboy shooter. He retired and  one year later passed away. So sad.
It’s a special gun to me, I’ll never get rid of. It.

That has happened to me.

By the way, Thank You for showing us this. I did not know Palmetto State Armory carried revolvers like this. I appreciate it.

I wouldn’t either. I would definitely have paid $600 for it in that instance. Maybe more.

You found a Security Six for $450 (mol)? May I ask where?

No, it was $500obo, I offered $475 and he accepted.   It was listed in the local classifieds.  The model 10 came to $448 for me after shipping and taxes without transfer fee.  It is 4" not the 3" barrel like the model 10.

What does "mol" mean?

Good buy!

Just wondering if it was a known internet dealer. There used to be a good classifieds in the local paper, Tampa Bay Times, years ago.  Problem was that they got more and more liberal and then graduated from just being a socialist paper to being a Communist propaganda paper and lost most of their readers...thereby the people that place the classified ads.

Got a few good deals back in the day though.

I have my model 67 that I carried when working at Moore, OK PD. The cylinders were reamed out by the PD gunsmith so it would take 357 loads. I carried if for about 12 years between Moore, OK PD and Denver, CO PD. It is now safely kept in my gun safe. I don't have a clue what it is worth today. It is in like new condition. I don't think it will ever be up for sale either. My daughter has said she wants it in the future.

Cool! Glad you got them.

I have had an itch for a .38 K frame with a 6” barrel as well as a Ruger DA in either a Redhawk (.357 or .45 Colt) a short barreled GP100 .357 or one of the older “Six” guns. They are part of my list. I am not picky about which I get.
Hell, I’m flakier than a snowstorm when it comes to guns and what I fancy. All it takes is a pretty face (cool gun) and I am off in another direction.

There is no such thing as too many 38/357 rollers.

Are the 6" K frame 38s rarer than the 3"?  I rarely see one around here other than the competition model Target Masterpiece 38s.

I think at one time 6” .38s were very popular but then 4” barrels seem to have become more popular. Probably when most police forces went to .357 Magnums the manufacturing of the longer .38s just weren’t as popular. That is just a guess on my part.
I do think the 3” are rarer than the 6”. I think the 8 3/8” are rarer still.

The move away from 5&6" barrels as Police guns was because of getting in and out of cars. The 4" barrel in a holster is far easier for entry and exit in just about any type of holster.

The RCMP up here in Canada carried 5 inch guns for many years... They had police ammo loaded with 158 gr. SWC bullets that gave a honest  1,040 Fps. out of their Guns... Dominion Loaded the ammo ...
