Blackwater 53393 Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 Some of my friends played on those cuts and the Fire on the Mountain album was actually recorded at a friend of mine’s studio here in Nashville before they put down the album tracks that appear on the disc so that they had everything EXACTLY like Charlie and the guys wanted it upon release. 1 1 Quote
Cypress Sun Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 I've seen Charlie and many of the incarnations of CDB many times over the years. He always seemed to come to Florida and events around Florida for many, many years. I always liked the ones he did in Brooksville...there was never a bad concert or off night that I ever saw. Always a fun musician, entertainer and his songs meant something to me then and still do today. Said it the way he saw it, the way it really is and from the heart. One of these days, I'll get up your way...I'd relish talking with you about the people, music and memories that make up your vast career and hobbies if you'd allow. Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 I look forward to that! Maybe we can hook up with some of the guys I talk about. Some of ‘em are still around!! 1 Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 Here’s another one that one of my friends played bass on. Nick Rather played bass behind JJ for many years, right up until his passing. A lot of people covered JJ’s music! 1 Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 Another high school buddy that played bass in two great Blues Rock bands. And gone way too soon!! Allan Woody played for the Mule and The Brothers… This song is among my all time favorites!! Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 I love the Lenny Welch version too, but… 1 Quote

Blackwater 53393 Posted February 13, 2024 Posted February 13, 2024 Linn’s post of the Hall of the Mountain King above sparked a memory for me! This is a long recording, well worth a listen and reveals some amazing talent! I suggest you come back and give it a listen when you have some time to relax and enjoy! 1 Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted February 13, 2024 Posted February 13, 2024 Along with great Blues and Classic Rock and Roll, I absolutely LOVE great orchestration! These guys provide it all!! Quote
Chantry Posted February 13, 2024 Posted February 13, 2024 All of Ritchie Valens' songs were performed by Los Lobos, whom the Valenzuela family personally requested be involved in the film. And Los Lobos looks so young in this video 1 1 Quote
