Good on you! A bolder man than I.  Fortunately only rattlesnakes (several varieties, only relevant to them) and they are not protected on private property.

Then their bodyguards best keep them away from me, 'cause if they don't, then the snakes are going from 'protected' to 'endangered'. (See Snake Philosophy above.)

Cotton hoes work good for things other than weeding a cotton field, too.

 

That long handle and heavy blade comes in handy on occasion.
