Flaco Joe Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 I’m looking for a set of thinner grips for an old model Vaquero. I want some that are thinner so more closely feel like original Colts. The factory set I have extent beyond the frame, and I’d like something that is a bit closer fitting for a slimmer grip profile. I’d really like some stag grips, but I’m also interested in some checkered wood panels. What can y’all suggest for grip retailers/makers? Thanks
Attica Jack #23953 Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 Altamont grips, I don't have large hands I put their thin grips on my Old Model Vaqueros, look and work nice.

Yul Lose Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 Grashorn Grips. Genuine elk antler and he’ll build them as thin as you want.
Will Kane Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 You might consider Texas Grips in Corpus Christi, TX. He made me some very nice checkered mesquite wood gunfighter extended grips for some OM Vaqueros. https://texasgrips.com/
Flaco Joe Posted September 8, 2021 Author Posted September 8, 2021 Thanks for all the suggestions, pards.

Boulder Canyon Bob# 32052L Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 Had these guys make me 2 pair of their Magna-tusk thin aged ivory for my wife's Ruger 32's. They are VERY nice. https://www.ebay.com/str/arizonacustomgrips
Doc Shapiro Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 Guess I'm a little odd. I make my own when I need a set. It's not particularly difficult. There are few key fit spots though.
Cariboo Lefty, SASS5391 Posted September 11, 2021 Posted September 11, 2021 Gunfighter grips work for me.
Pat Riot Posted September 11, 2021 Posted September 11, 2021 Altamont hasn’t had the original Vaquero “Slim” grips in over 3 years now. They stopped making them sometime in 2017 and sold off what they had. Since the CoVid silliness they have had 6 to 8 week delays and it seems they haven’t replenished any of their stock in some time.
