Back in my misspent youth I was an oldies disk jockey. Now I'm a Charter Member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.  It's really a great place to visit.

I live 15 minutes from the RRHOF, I was there once. Sadly I was not impressed at all. :(

why can’t we live in bliss

Woke up this morning,

Somethin’ robbed me of my sleep.

Reached for you, but all I found,

Was a cold, empty sheet.

Three nights in a row, baby,

I don’t know where you’ve been.

You say you’re workin’ late,

But could it be you’ve found another man?

EDIT: if you look it up, take a listen!!  Fabulous Song!!!

Still nobody!!  C'mon y'all!!

I did.

Sometimes songs hold just a little too much true meaning to listen to again........

Most folks find the Blues cathartic!  Whether you sing ‘em or just listen, they can be a great release!!

Here’s another one that I really have a feel for!  I sang this song as I walked out of rehab, almost a year ago!

“I’m goin down to the river,

Got a cane pole in my hand.

Got my red worms,

In a Maxwell House coffee can.

I’m gonna sit under a shadetree,

By a riverbank where it’s cool.

I’m gonna close my eyes and dream,

And...

That'll be Marshal Tucker Band's "Let the Cork Bob Away My Blues".  One of my favorites.

I  loved hearing Toy Caldwell on the pedal steel.  Great tunes back then.

Toy Caldwell was probably one of the top10 guitarists of all time!!  So very versatile and tone like few that ever played!!

Too little recognition for such a gem!!

Where were you in '69,

smokin' dope, drinkin' wine
-Just an outlaw
Distant drums beats an old refrain,

shakes your feet, pounds your brain
-Like a buzzsaw
In the darkness down the hall,

black-light posters on the wall
-Jimi Hendrix
Someone's lost in yesterday,

hazy dreams of Monterey

I'm gonna' stick this one in without a quiz!!

It's just too cool and it's Leon!!

Cruise down the street in front of school
I wanna rev it up but I gotta be cool
Drivin' down the road I'll get my kicks
A'poppin' the clutch and a'slippin' the sticks

That one was bugging the heck out of me, so I finally had to look it up. Since I did, I won't spill the beans just yet.

Since I'm younger, comparatively speaking, my past isn't as far past as the pasts of some of us here... This one may be an easy one, I don't know, but it is meaningful to me and definitely from my past. I can explain more on the other side, if desired:

Everybody trying to tell me
That you didn't mean me no good
I've been trying, Lord, let me tell you
Let me tell you I really did the best I could

Correct song. I didn't realize anyone sang it besides Travis Tritt though.

Like I said a couple of pages ago, modern country is pop music with the occasional fiddle, mandolin or banjo thrown in.

On the other hand, at least you don't get sober, get your girlfriend, money, wife, and/or house back just as your truck starts and your dog's zombie rises from the grave like what it replaced.

Try this one!!

All he wanted,

Was to be free,

And that's the way,

It turned out to be.

Flow river flow.

Flow river flow,

Flow to the sea.

Let you waters wash down.

Take me from this road,

To some other town.

Well I heard some people talkin' just the other day

And they said you're gonna put me on the shelf

Let me tell ya, I got some news for you

And you'll soon find out its true

Then you'll have to eat your lunch all by yourself

An easy one . . .

"The judge said son, what is your alibi
If you were somewhere else, then you won't have to die
I spoke not a word, thou it meant my life
For I'd been in the arms of my best friend's wife"
