A great a capella tune from a Master:

"The children prayed, the preacher preached
Time and mercy is out of your reach
I'll fix your feet til you cant walk
I'll lock your jaw til you cant talk"

It sure is.  Similar song and lyrics are "Darlin' Corey".

I'm yet to be convinced it's not the same melody, though Darlin Corey does have its own complete set of lyrics telling one story.

Was to be free,

And that's the way,

It turned out to be.

Flow river flow.

Flow river flow,

Flow to the sea.

Let you waters wash down.

Take me from this road,

To some other town.

The J&D recording is the original. It was also recorded by Ronny and The Daytonas.

Let's give this one a try:

And when the sun comes up, I'll be on top
You'll be right down there, looking up
And I might wave, come up here

I could hear the clock ticking time away

Y'all try this one!!

I watch the leaves,

Falling to the ground.

I'm walking up and down,

The streets of my hometown.

You're here with me,

Like it used to be.

I turn around and then,

I'm on my own again!

That organ sound and those chords are pretty well classic, even iconic to the era.

Try this one:

A race of angels bound with one another

a dish of dollars laid out for all to see

A tower room at Eden rock

His golf at noon for free

Another easy one:

"Lullabies, look in your eyes,
Run around the same old town.
Doesn't mean that much to me
To mean that much to you."

This might be one of the saddest songs I’ve ever heard.

Your day breaks. Your mind aches.

You find that all the words of kindness linger on,

When she no longer needs you.

She wakes up. She makes up.

She takes her time and doesn’t feel she has to hurry.

She no longer needs you.

I’m gonna go ahead and call this one.  Image of a girl!

I’d never heard it that I can remember.  Might could have used a little more tempo...
