Cheyenne Ranger, 48747L Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 Since our 'wonderful' County Judge has now required us to have a face mask for outdoor activities I suggested this for our members goes well with SASS Speampunk costuming yes, I know it's an unofficial category)
Utah Bob #35998 Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 I had not heard about this. https://www.click2houston.com/news/local/2020/04/22/hidalgo-to-order-harris-county-to-wear-masks-in-public-for-30-days/ We’ll see if it flies. I don’t see how a judge has that authority. https://www.texastribune.org/2020/04/23/harris-county-face-mask-lina-hidalgo/ The phrase “You’re not the boss of me! Comes to mind.
DocWard Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 I saw about that. How easy are bananas to come by there?

Redleg Reilly, SASS #46372 Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 It is already being challenged in court. Well be interesting to see how it plays out.
Sedalia Dave Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 In Texas the County Judge fulfills an executive position a lot like a city mayor and not like a criminal judge. Both the Governor and Lt Governor as well as many other county Judges and City mayors have come out and criticizing Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo for her mask requirement. A lawsuit has already been filed. Quote Houston conservative power broker Steve Hotze filed a lawsuit against Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo Thursday, alleging that her order requiring people to cover their faces in public violates the Texas Constitution and conflicts with Gov. Greg Abbott’s stay-at-home order.
Dubious Don #56333 Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 LOL, one thing that's happened with all this is its really flushed out all the little dictators, hasn't it? Sad to see, really, some of us knew what they were all along and its good now everyone can see. Elections have consequences. Happy to see Houston standing up to this.

So it's a office position like our county commissioners that oversees road maintenance, water district, and other chores in running the county. This is about laughable. I'd say time for some civil disobedience.
