Tell Sackett SASS 18436
Bah! Humbug! There is only ONE Scrooge: Alastair Sim!
Abilene Slim SASS 81783
Ah yes, Alistair Sim was excellent! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0044008/ Adding to GC Scott, I think his Scrooge was a more nuanced and complex character than most portrayals. He was intelligent, shrewd and vain among other things, in addition to being a cheapskate. The Ghosts were marvelous in this production, beginning with Jacob Marley. Blackwater 53393
George C. Scott!! Hands down the best Scrooge EVER!! He played it to the hilt and there was no overacting or silliness involved! I doubted the show when it was first released, but today I wonder who could step up and top this marvelous performance. The 1938 and 1951 versions also have a lot to recommend them. Among the four I can't really say I have a favorite. Kinda depends on my mood. Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
Looking this up on IMDB, gives 62 results, 23 of which are TV series which just did their own thing for a seasonal theme. one more is "in production." And 38 films for either movie or TV or a few "shorts."
