Anyone know about DGL or Black Powder Premium? I switched from my own homemade formulae to SPG. I am curious about these and how they have worked for other BP shooters.

A couple of years ago, I make my own Black Powder lube. It worked ok.

But SPG was better. So now I am back using SPG. As far as I am concerned you can't beat SPG .

Use it on Smokeless loads also.

* Never heard of Black Powder Premium until I Goggled it. Sure is pricey, so not my cup of tea

* DGL is used by many of the BPCR match shooters and believe in it's quality

* SPG - probably the most used by BPCR shooters. Steve Garbe is making a fortune selling it too

So I make my own from a recipe in the 1943 American Rifleman. Zero lube starvation, no leading, doesn't become runny in hot weather and no complaints when it's cold ... mutton tallow - paraffin and bees wax. Have 2 batches made up with ozokerite & lanolin to substitute for the paraffin and bees waxes

When I was using Goex, I used SPG. I could shoot a two day and not clean or swab barrels between stages or days. Since I became tired of pan lubing, I've gone to APP the last few years.

Beeswax & Olive oil...90% wax, 10% oil.

I am interested in buying some BP bullets from a new (to me) supplier that uses the non SPG lubs. I have used SPG forever! :)

Being just a tad past middle age, I forgot to look them up on the Internet. :D

Last year, our summer was a killer so possibly the SPG might have run. Fortunately, there were no matches on either day! :)

Beeswax and Lard 50/50 Mix

Cheap and works great.

They have lubes that work just like my special BP lube that has never let me down. I will tell you that if you make your own BP lube then it would make a huge improvement by the addition of 100% pure Lanolin.

I did at one time try SPG but it was not made for Louisiana heat.

The best lube that I have ever found next to my own is made by a former member of the Cast Boolits Forum. It is called NASA and if you do a search, you will find all kinds of positive reviews. I buy it by the

pound and just made contact with Bullshop and he still offers it. I can use NASA as it is still cheaper

than what it cost me for my ingredients in my own lube. One of my special ingredients is JoJoBo Oil and it's over $70 for 64 oz. If you shoot a BP cartridge gun and use what the BP crowd refers to as greasers

then it would behoove you to try some NASA.

Bullshop has relocated to Montana and I will see if he is set up for sales as I just ordered 4 pounds

from him this past Friday.

BP lube is in the same class as favorite cars, ice cream, women, guns, so please don't say that your's is the best and it only cost $1 a pound to make. I'm just putting this out to those SASS REAL BP Cartridge

loaders who use a lubes in a lube/sizer or by pan and are looking for something that is easy to use and itworks. You don't have to clean between stages and you will not find any leading, EVER.

I used thompsons yellow lube for my muzzle loader and the few cases where I need lube for. Bp. My bullets are smokeless which are ok for app.

I use SPG with Scheutzen FFg in my .40-65. Love it.

If you are a serious BP shooter who shoots the real BP in regular loads and you would like to try some NASA, let me know. Don't be one of those who only orders vanilla all

the time. They have a lot of things in life that become our favorites "" AFTER WE TRY THEM"

A member on CAST BOOLITS won a BPCR championship this past year while using the NASA

lube. He did shoot a lot of the match with PP bullets but his greasers were NASA lubed.

Bullshop also makes a casting mold lube that is known as Bullplate. If you cast, you must try this

stuff, it's unreal on how it works in your molds. It's sold in 2 oz bottles. If you shoot smokeless,

you can mix one bottle with some BW and have a great lube for you who choose to shoot that heathern

powder. Ha!! Ha!! Later Fairshake

Where do you find this NASA lube?

A GOOGLE search didn't find any link etc.

What really wins those BPCR matches is a 'hard-holder' and a dang good spotter.

Along with a good bore wiping solution to deal with the conditions at Raton. ^_^

A good google search did find the info:

http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?172727-Bullshop-NASA-lube

I had used Bullshop's NASA lube with good luck in the past, but switched to SPG for the Bullshop move from Alaska to Montana, during which it was hard to contact Dan and Tina.

Good luck, GJ

As I stated in my earlier posting, if any one wants to try some NASA and see how good it is, just

contact me and I will send you some at no charge.

I don't have any interest in the business but DAN and Tina have been friends of mine for over 6 years.

He not only moved to Montana from Alaska but has moved to another location in Montana. These moves plus his leaving the forum of Cast Boolit has made it hard for people to locate him.

Dan and Tina are real fine people and he makes some of the best lube I ever put down a bore. His mold

lube is something that I thought would make them a good living if he had the correct source.I'm

offering this to try and help them out. My pay will be the satisfaction of having new customers find

out about these products.

I'm not going to put down on anyone's current lube but I promise you, this stuff is remarkable. Later
