Maybe because they are Italians, not Americans. Our history is "OURS" not theirs and Hollyday or Holliday as they spell it, isn't important as the number of sales they get. If we spell Gessipi Venchenso incorectly, does it matter to us as it might to them?

Not SASS...but I surely wish Pedersoli (or someone) would make a faithful replica of a British "Baker Rifle"....just as a wall-hanger and occasional shooter. If you haven't seen the BBC series "Sharpe's Rifles" (about 15 episodes all told...) about a squad of "Chosen Men" from the 95th Rifles during the Napoleonic Wars...you've missed the best "winter TV viewing" gig since the long version of "Lonesome Dove". Sorta like "Band of Brothers' displaced to 1809-1815.

I saw a website from an import company selling East Clintwood ponchos. Said they were just like the ones in the movie. It may be a copyright thing.

Dang it! Why didn't I think of that? East Clintwood would have made a great SASS alias  .

Doc Holliday with is the correct spelling of the name, with two L's. The "Hollyday" may be a typo?

Has any one used one of their hammer doubles as shown here? I know It is expensive but aside for the (something for the kiddies lettering on the side plate it is one handsome copy of late 1800s hammer double

http://www.davide-pedersoli.com/scheda-prodotto.asp/l_en/idpr_237/rifles-wyatt-earp-wyatt-earp.html

(and yes the have a shotgun in the rifles section of their website)

just wondered if any of the expert SXS shooters have run one and if the think it stacks up. if So I may get lucky with my weekly lotto spend (AKA my retirement plan) one day and have to put it on my wish list.

Cheers

I looked at that Wyatt Earp double as well. Looks good as well as the other guns they have.

even if the tang safety is the automatic type most of the time the auto part can be disabled so it becomes a manual safety I did it to an old Winchester some years ago and it was very minor gun disassemble reassemble evening work.

if it is an auto set safety that is tough to disable It would be a deal breaker on a CAS SxS and since that is what they designed this for I have to think they would be smarter than that... Did any one who saw it at the SHOT show ask them about it?

When I click on the link to Pedersoli, all I get is a "Pop-up blocked" symbol. Is there something wrong with my computer or the link? Please keep it simple- I am nearly a computer moron.

Very nice looking, but a little strange they come with 4.2 inch and 5.0 inch barrels?

Wish they were offered in 4.5 inch...

Happy trails

Try here.... http://www.middlesexvillagetrading.com/MBR.shtml .

It's a smoothbore, but should be fun out to 50 yards.

If you liked the Sharpe TV series, I strongly recommend the Bernard Cornwell novels the series is based on. As another poster has mentioned there is a company that produces a smoothbore version of the Baker rifle. As it is more or less being produced for reenactors, rather then shooters, being smoothbore is not an issue and even makes cleaning easier. I also understand it helps with exportation. I would also love to see a real rifled version, but really love to see a repro of a Hall carbine and/or a Ferguson rifle.

A rousing good series for sure. :)

From the series and the books beforehand I learned that before there were Corporals the stepping stone rank between Private and Sargent was "Chosen Man" so the tales provide education as well as entertainment

The US importer of the Bakers notes that rifled barrels are available but does not say from whom or for how much also note that you will need to add about $100 to that $500 price quoted on his web page for the basic accessories such as the sling and sword bayonet

Because the Italian's native language is not English and they misspelled it. Perhaps you should email them the correct spelling. There are two different spellings on the web page, both of them incorrect. Maybe they could correct their error before the gun actually is mass produced.

I wonder why they selected a 4.2" barrel length instead of a 4" or 4.75" length.

They also call the grip shape a "birds beak" instead of correctly a "birds head".

But Pedersoli does build a very fine gun in all respects.
