  2. And in the absence of that - the MD can simply ask (or go off of pre existing knowledge). And remember - you wouldn't necessarily be placing them into their "age appropriate" category - but into the category nearest to their chosen one. So you have 4 shooters in our hypothetical situation all signed up in Cowboy. After you determine that ALL are age eligible for other categories; you don't send two of them to 49'r, one to Silver Senior and one to Cattle Baron via their birthdates. You send all of them to the nearest category that they are eligible for. In this example - they would all go to Wrangler. THEN "If" Wrangler were not fully populated - AND everyone in Wrangler was age eligible to shoot a different (older) category - you "could" collapse upward again and place everyone in 49'r. NOW - let's say you have a shooter in 49'r- that is age category ineligible to move upward (and we have already collapsed Cowboy and Wrangler) then 49'r cannot be collapsed and becomes the base age "protected" category - and until you reach full category population or a SASS noted protected category; you would/ could then begin collapsing shooters downward into 49'r. So - while Cowboy is not a "protected" category per the rules; eventually you will have a "protected" age based category that encompasses the youngest shooter that is ineligible for any other category.

  4. Wow!!! Thanks for all the info. That leads me to some decisions that need to be made. It looks as though front loaders are out of the picture. Many sites recommend you leave the door open after use to reduce the possibility of mildew build up. The laundry room is in a high traffic area so leaving the door open will make it much more susceptible damage by humans and animals running into the open door. The only capacity Speed Queen offers is 3.2 CF. My current Whirlpool is 5.2 CF. (I opted for that size because we have a need to wash larger items like blankets, although I don't fill the washer that full most of the time.) The reduced capacity will equate to running more loads every week. The current price for a Speed Queen at our local dealer is $1,400. The replacement for my Whirlpool is $550. Speed Queen warranty is for 5 years. Whirlpool warranty is for 1 year.
  5. He ought to get his ass kicked...real good. Blanket party with rolls of quarters would work real good....idiot.
  6. Most major matches, including EOT require a photo ID when the competitor checks in at registration. It is checked against his or her age based category. TB
  7. I put 14# Wolf springs in mine. They set off Federal, Winchester, and Fiocchi primers 100%. CCI only about 80%. Wolf sells them in a 3 pack for the Vaquero and New Vaquero, or you can buy one at a time. The redneck engineering did make me laugh though. Maybe you should post on the Cartoon thread in the Saloon.
  8. That's what headlines are supposed to do.
  9. Keep in mind that one person's definition of "shooting safely" and another's may differ based on familiarity with and popularity of the shooter. It ain't fun being the dissenting opinion...either way.

  11. Never heard of the like. Can't see how it would help any appreciable amount. Wolff springs has excellent springs. I'd suggest you get 15, 16 & 17 lbs springs and see which works best for you. What primers are you using?
  12. Can't you call it something other than "Planned P"? That conjures up a completely different image of your stages.
  13. Your post title did catch my attention.
  14. Take a quick look at how people vote. That should answer your question.
  15. If you have an Amazon account, buy an Amazon Firestick. This is what we had to do with our 12 year old Samsung, when Netflix gave us the same crap.
  16. Roger, Are there limits on how long shooters may camp before or after the scheduled event-- i.e., to go enjoy the central coast or to help with match set up or break down?
  17. But how do you determine if they have other age-eligibility, without knowing their actual age?
  18. This isn’t regarding Alpo’s question. This has more to do with why I will not shoot “found ammo”. A little story about an ex-friend of mine. This guy would show up at our monthly work retreat shoots out in the desert of California. He loved doing things liked shooting his Ruger Blackhawk .44 Magnum with saucy loads then shooting them. He would offer to let others shoot his Ruger but he would load it with really hot “Ruger only” loads then laugh his butt off when his “friend” would pull the trigger and sprain his wrist (me) or bust a gash in a friend’s middle finger (another buddy of mine). This was funny to this moron. He also did this with .357 Magnum loads in his other Blackhawks. I went to an indoor range with him where I was a member. We were shooting revolvers and he offered to let me try his Blackhawk again. I told him to do something impossible with himself. He laughed. When we left the shooting range area and were at the counter paying he said “Oh, I forgot something.” and he went back into the shooting range. He came back a minute later grinning. We paid and left the range and as I was pulling out of the parking lot he says “Hey, you want to hear something funny?” ”Sure.” ”I salted the range.” ”You what? What’s that mean?” “I left a couple of my hot .44 and .357 rounds laying on the rear bench in the range. I would love to see the look on someone’s face after they shoot one of those.” ”YOU WHAT? What the hell is wrong with you? Are you trying to get somebody hurt or killed?” (I toned that sentence down from what was actually said) I did a u-turn and went back to the range and retrieved the ammo. He admitted to doing this stuff all the time. He is an Ex-Friend. Me and my buddies shunned Mike. Since that time he has joined and been kicked out of 2 rifle clubs and 1 indoor range that I am aware of. If I see stray rounds lying about at the range I either turn them in or keep them and tear them down. I would hate to see someone get a “Mike Round”.
