Chief Rick Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 Hurricane Francine is making landfall along the Gulf coast of Louisiana, in the area of Houma and Galliano as a Cat 2 hurricane with an eye of approximately 55 miles. The eye of the storm appears to be headed towards New Orleans, then Northward, East of Jackson, MS and into Memphis, TN. We have a lot of Cowboys and Cowgirls going to be affected. Please keep everyone in your thoughts and prayers

Dr. Zook Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 Some of our FEMA crews got call up orders starting Monday evening. Air assets were in the air Tuesday heading to staging areas along the expected path... Keep your heads down & family close...going to take a long knee tonight and add our extended SASS family, all residents of the affected areas & our first responders to tonight's 🙏.
Blackwater 53393 Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 Prayers up for the folks in the impact zone! It’ll pass through here sometime later on Thursday with heavy rains expected. We can use the rain, but I hope the flooding due to runoff is minimal!
Eyesa Horg Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 Be safe everybody, don't take any chances.
Silver Creek Jack Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 God protect all of the folks in the path of this hurricane, I feel so bad for you all!!

So far today it hasn't been bad at all. Less than 3/4 inch and very minimal wind. The heavy bands are just starting to get to us. The coast at the AL/MS border is seeing 30 mph winds with 45 mph gusts. We're at 17 mph wind with 43 mph gusts. Time for bed.

Hurricanes you can prepare for. We made it through the night with only one tree limb down and about an inch of rain. The storm seemed to part and the really bad stuff went around us. Others are not so lucky and many will be dealing with loss of power and flooding.
La Sombra Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 We were also fortunate on the MS Coast. At our house we had a little over 3.5 inches of rain in a 60 hour period. Winds topped out at a few 30 MPH gusts towards midnight Wednesday evening. My pool is full as is our pond. And @Chief Rick was right the rain was welcome. If this was your first hurricane in MS, this was a good one to experience. Our pards in LA are checking in as good. No report of home damage. Still waiting to hear about the three ranges, Up The Creek in Lake Charles, Deadwood Marshals in Sorrento, and the Bayou Bounty Hunters in Amite. The last two were in the direct path of the storm. La Sombra
Red River Rudy, SASS #8490 LIFE Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 Deadwood Marshals Range is ok. Some small trees down across the access road but no real damage to the range itself! Very Lucky! THANK GOD!!!! Hope Up the Creek and BBH are ok!
DeaconKC Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 Heavy rains from it even this far North.
Blackwater 53393 Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 Been getting rain here since about noon today. Nothing heavy yet, but the weather guessers are saying that tomorrow may be rough at times. Hope everyone is okay and there’s no permanent damage.
Hoss Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 Last time a storm hit Morgan City it did 27 million dollars worth of improvements (sorry MC, I couldn’t resist!) that area has had lots of storms. My sister lives in Baton Rouge, she said all ok there, my nephew in Raceland said no power but ok otherwise. I live on Corpus Christi Bay. Was glad to see it slide past us.
