EOT and Matches Prior to EOT

Texas Maverick

Recommended Posts

I just got my receipt from my EOT entry so I am heading that way in Feb 2025. I will be staying at the CTC at Ben Avery starting Feb 10 thru Mar 5. I am trying to put together a list of matches prior to EOT so I can decide what else I might want to shoot.

So far I have:

ACSA have a two day match at BA around Feb 15 and 16 2025.
Their website:

https://acsainc.com

Cowtown (9 miles from BA) have a two day match on Feb 22 and 23 2025.

Applications are available at:

https://ccsa-az.com

Tombstone (211 miles from BA) have a two day match on Feb 21 and 22 2025.

There are also one day matches in Tombstone on Sunday, Feb 2nd and Saturday, Feb 15th.

EOT - Feb 24 thru Mar 2

thanks, since we will already be at Ben Avery on the 10th I don't see us backtracking back over 200 miles to Tombstone. I will be going with the Fire and Ice match which is only 9 miles away.

Thanks for the info though. Maybe it will help some of the others that read this post.

Sounds like a great match but I will have my wife and daughter with me so it is a 3 input decision and Fire and Ice won out so they can stay at the campground and not have to sit in a car for the 400 mile round trip ride.

Understand that dilemma.  But, if never been to Tombstone...or been there many times as Sassy and I, it is still fun place.  Tumbleweed adds to the visit for sure.  Enjoy FNI, bet it is fun match also.

You look like you have talked us into it. Will know in a few days. Wife said since we are going to be at Ben Avery starting on the 10th that it might be a good thing to have a change of scenery and it isn't that far down there. Just have to check out RV resorts.

If I remember correctly they have accommodations on site for RVs. You should check with them first to see what they have available.

Ok, what is Tumbleweed and is there any info out on this match? All I see is the Bordertown match.

Tumbleweeds is held at the Tombstone Livery, same range as the legendary Bordertown. They have both full hookup and dry camping onsite. Cowboy Doug runs the place, nicest guy in the world. Call him at the number on the website for info.

Thanks, I did talk with Doug yesterday and he is holding us a spot. We have decided to take a break from the Ben Avery area since we are going to be there from 2/10 to 3/5. We are looking forward to seeing a new area and plan on spending 4 or 5 days down there. I did spend some time in the Tucson/Nogales area many years ago Mearns Quail hunting. Just need some ideas on what else there is down there besides the match so my wife and daughter don't get bored with me. LOL

Some could get you in trouble.

Big Nose Kate's before and after going to Gunfighter Museum & Hall of Fame and Bird Cage is a must.  Sassy wants to make Haunted Tour but I keep putting that off.  Do plan on making  Mine tour this year and maybe Gunfighter Museum  for the third time.

There are some great Movie Set Ranches near Tombstone also, as well as much, much more.

Like Crystal Palace, Four Deuces, OK Cafe, Longhorn Steakhouse, and The Oriental.  About anything along Allen Street.  Even Doc Holliday's, but it might get a little rough (if not closed yet).

Although Tombstone is a big tourist spot we have found some very nice and friendly local folks.

How on earth did Sassy get you to stand still next to her for so long?

Good likeness for sure, except a little to slim. I would have been in there if you guys had not warned me that trouble was getting frequent there.

Good cold beer  but certainly much more a "dive" than others mentioned.  We got a kick out of a picture they had on the wall of Texas game warden we knew (Bennie was on Lone Star Law TV series for years).

Should still be a lot of fun even if it is terrible. LOL  Hear most of the Austin/Dallas crew are on the posse. Reminds me of EOT in 2019 when I was on the same posse with you and Jim.

Yeah, will definitely need to know where to visit and where to stay away from.

The courthouse in Tombstone is worth seeing. That's where the Earp trial was held. Could be more ideas online for Tombstone, Cochise county and surrounding area.

The ACSA annual match will be February 7-9. My fault, I gave Texas Maverick the wrong dates based on an educated guess.

No problem. We had to change our plans and now will be going straight to Tombstone (Tumbleweeds Shoot Out) and then on up to Ben Avery. My wife and daughter decided to just fly up for their 1/2 marathon in Sedona on Feb 1 instead of us going up on Jan 29 and spending two weeks sitting around waiting on the matches.
