Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
Milk and cookies go together like peanut butter and jelly, salt and pepper, Jay-Z and Beyoncé. However, there is a right way and a wrong way to dunk a cookie in milk, according to scientists. In 1998, a professor at the University of Bristol in the U.K. looked into the ideal method for dunking a British biscuit (aka a cookie) into a drink, using the concept of capillary action — the way fluids move spontaneously through small tubes in porous materials — and Washburn’s equation, which describes their journey. Eventually, he determined that the typical British biscuit is best dunked for 3.5 to 5 seconds. Using this same technique in 2016, scientists at the University of Utah's Splash Lab determined the perfect dunk time for the much-beloved Oreo. Although the amount of time to get to “perfect” depends on preferred sogginess levels and milk fat content, the Utah researchers determined that three seconds was enough to thoroughly saturate the Oreo without losing structural integrity. Forty Rod SASS 3935
Tax dollars at work. I usually crush up five or so into a glass, pour in enough milk to get them all wet, and eat them with a spoon. That's how Mom did it. That's how I do it.

Alpo
Never really understood dunking, myself. Nobody in my family did it. In the movie shop around the corner, Jimmy Stewart and his friend are down at the cafe, where Jimmy is supposed to meet his pen pal. But he's just been fired so he can't face her. And his friend is looking through the cafe window to see what she looks like. He sees their signal - a copy of Anna Karenina with a carnation in it as a bookmark - so he knows he's looking at the right girl. He says he can see the table but he can't see her face. Then, "there's a cup of coffee on the table, she's picking up a piece of cake, now she's leaning forward ---", and he looks over at Jimmy and announces, "she dunks!" Dunking a piece of cake into a cup of coffee. It just seems like it would immediately fall apart. Oh, and the fact that she dunks does not upset Jimmy in the least. Multi day old baked goods that are rap the table stale benefit from a good dunking in milk, coffee or tea.
Warden Callaway
Getting old brings back memories. Dad would jelly toast and fold over and dunk it in coffee. I did that a few times years ago and it was pretty good. We don't buy Oreoes but when the cookies get pretty hard, I often dunk them.
John Kloehr
I don't eat Oreos (sensitive to the ingredients), but I do crumble good dark chocolate bars onto either vanilla or chocolate Hagen Daz Ice cream. I think it activates the same pleasure centers.
Sedalia Dave
Oreos are best served crumbled and then blended into Vanilla Ice Cream.
Alpo
Get a double stuff Oreo. Actually, get two. Take one cookie off of each, now press the remaining ones together. You now have a four-stuff Oreo, and that's the best way to eat an Oreo.

Pat Riot
I do believe these scientists are sorely mistaken. 3 seconds is not the proper amount of time to properly dunk an Oreo or any sandwich cookie. The proper time is a minimum of 10 seconds. @Forty Rod SASS 3935 has somewhat outlined my second favorite method of cookie drowning. I like the cookies to remain whole. I like to pick my milk glass by height. I want it to be 3/4” tall as measured by the spoon I am using. This way I do not get milky fingers when drowning and retrieving my cookies. I measure the interior of the glass by lowering an Oreo or sandwich cookie into an empty glass to determine if a spoon can easily get past the Oreo (or other sandwich cookie) without harming the integrity of the cookie. If I can accomplish this I fill the glass to about 2/3 full then I add Oreos one at a time until either the milk gets near the brim of the glass or the cookies stack until the last one is barely submerged. I then wait about 10-15 seconds then I pick up the top cookie with my spoon and put it in my mouth whole with the spoon and enjoy it. I do this every half minute or so. If done properly the last couple of cookies are mush and cannot be picked up. Those must be gotten out by drinking the milk along with the last 2 mushy cookies. Yummy!
