All a cowboy needs to be dressed is a hat and boots.

Shooting Bull did a lot of costuming work to fit the part, even gained some weight to fill out the costume:P. There were shooters dressed as Toy Story characters too and some that were dressed in Steam Punk garb. I believe Shooting Bull dressed as Sheriff Woody last year and I saw a couple of folks dressed that way this year. Would this costume pass for proper costuming? She’s got the hat and the boots.

Calamity Crow (pictured) does an out outstanding job with her costumes.  She recently joined my local club and her efforts in costuming have been noticed!

Don't require boots in most categories

Don't need a hat in most categories either! B-Western and Classic Cowboy is it.

When I saw the pic in Yul's thread I immediately wondered how much guff you were going to get for that.

We have one on this end of the country that wears bibbed overhauls only, legs rolled up and barefoot.  AFAIK nobody's ever grumbled about his git-up.

We have a couple that come to the WV State Match just wearing bib overalls and no shoes, could be the same folks.

They are legal, but ouch on those bare feet.

FYI...The "official ruling" was made in 2012 by applying THIS definition:

How many of you folks remember when Tex was the editor of the Chronicle before Skinny?   Tex went on a multy month rage against "blue jeans."  What Happened?  All of a sudden you started seeing a hell of lot of folks wearing "blue jeans."   Shooting Bull wears a "costume" from a famous comedy movie western movie we have all seen numerous times , and have laughed our heads off.

You go Bull!!!!!!!!!

There's some VERY wise advice I learned years ago, never fry bacon naked.  I think that could probably be applied to cowboy shooting as we'll.
