I did not realize that that was his hand. I thought someone else was holding the phone up.

 

Does anyone actually do that? Turn the phone around and then try to push the button? I thought that was the purpose of the reverse-camera thing. So you can both see yourself when you were taking a selfie, and the button you have to push.

I think that the idea is that he's trying to take a picture while the phone is in calculator mode, not camera mode.

That was the technique used before phones had a selfie camera, in the dark before phones had a selfie flash, when you're taking a distance selfie and want the highest quality picture.  The technique isn't hard to master, especially with the drag and drop shutter button.

That video store is probably a Blockbuster but I don't remember the balloons on the floor. What were those for? I'd probably want to pop them back then...not so much these days.;)
