Howdy,

With any magazine, if it arrives damaged contact the publisher right away.

So far that always gets me a perfect copy and sometimes they want the

damaged one.  I think it has to do with the first amendment.

I reported missing/damaged tribunes and a lawyer contacted my neighbor.

Delivery got way better after that.

You have a RIGHT to that publication.

Larned me some thangs I dint know about old Dreadful. Very interesting artical.

Biggest issue with my late issue model was the rear sight windage screw.

But SSgt. Buxon helped me fix that.  Funny how his boot could get things done faster.

Shooting Times cheated me out of a whole year. Even after being a subscriber for almost fifty years They wouldn’t even give me the dignity of a response to my complaint

When Skeeter Skelton, and Bill Jordan, and Bob Milek, passed away, I pretty much stopped reading Shooting Times.  Bart Skelton, Skeeter's son, wrote for a while for them.  He had his dad's writing skills, I must say.  But...without Skeeter, Bill, and Bob, it just ain't the same...sorta like Saturday Night Live is now, compared to the early days.

I do prefer a book or magazine.  I met Bill Jordan, once, and I obtained an autographed copy of his book: "No Second Place Winner".  It's kinda difficult to get an autographed copy of an e-book.

No country for old men, I suppose.

Nice article on the Hall carbine too. That could have been a more expansive piece. The Hall was an interesting design. Some were even used up into the Civil War.

It had some faults. The breech mechanism tended to blow back a lot of gas. The trigger looking lever used to flip the breechblock up was changed to a fishtail lever on the side of the stock. It tended to poke holes in the Dragoon’ legs as they bounced along on horseback.

During the Mexican fracas in ‘46 the Troops realized that the breech, hammer, and trigger could be pulled out intact and used as a small pistol while engaged in a night of recreation at the local cantina, just in case. It wouldn’t have been comfortable to shoot.

A note on the Seminole Wars in Florida. They were long and costly. After a while the citizens called on the the government to pull the troops out of Florida. They didn’t seem to be making progress against a determined enemy who ambushed units from the swamp and disappeared. And nobody thought we had any business in the mosquito infested peninsula anyway.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Haven't had time to read it as yet,  but on page 48 there is an article on

First Garands ; The "Gas Trap" M 1 Rifle. Looks like an informative read.

I'm drooling over the magazine fed shot gun....within my budget too.
