Cliff Hanger #3720LR
The California waiting period pops up in several threads. California is bashed for it. Maybe rightly so. What most do not under stand is California has had a Waiting period for hand guns since 1923. It is not a new idea at all. Here is an article tha was trying to relate waiting periods to murder rate reduction which did not succfess in that the murder rate and growing population with criminals not going through any waiting period more or less make the victum unable to respond to a criminal attack. Subdeacon Joe
Interesting. The waiting period is 10 days, not 15 as stated.
Sixgun Sheridan
Here in WA the waiting period is technically 10 days, but since it doesn't include weekends it's effectively 14 days.
Red Gauntlet , SASS 60619
Washington has long had the ten days for handguns, as Sixgun Sheridan says. Until a few months back, if you had a CPL, you didn't have to wait, but that was a Federal accommodation that has gone away. On the other hand, you can buy as many of 'em as you want at the same time.

Rye Miles #13621
Here in Ohio I had to wait too! I filled out the 4473 and since I have an Ohio CCL, they didn't have to call it in. That whole process took about 20 minutes! Ohio The Wild Midwest!
bgavin
The population in CA is safe... I accumulated 170+ waiting days in CA in 2019, just to get all my cowboy guns. What has not been mentioned yet in this thread... the 30 day waiting period between hand guns. Those who buy pairs of hand guns, accumulate a whole lot of CA waiting periods. Forty Rod SASS 3935
Last gun I bought I had to wait about 15 minutes because the kid was learning how to fill out the paperwork. No waiting period, and if you have a CCI in Arizona, no background check after your first in-state purchase.
Prof. Fuller Bullspit
Waiting periods are an annoyance to a person who already owns guns. I bet that a waiting period feels a bit more serious to a person who, for the first time realizes that when seconds count, the police are still minutes away.... or may not be able to respond at all. Utah Bob #35998
When I lived in Florida years ago each county could impose their own waiting period. Palm Beach County waiting period was 14 days. Neighboring Martin county, mostly rural, was zero.
