Hey guys just picked up a Uberti 1866  Yellowboy factory Demo for $795. Thought that was a good deal. Still has factory warranty for me too.

Not bad atoll, atoll.

If it's anything like mine, ya might wish to take some Emory Paper to the Side Plate Edges.

Not much though, as they're Razor Sharp.

So if you're not carefull while pullin um off, they'll Bite ya Good.

Good lookin' Yellowboy County Jr.

If the loading gate tab hasn't been reinforced??

it will probably break off.. at the most inappropriate time..

It ain't "will it break or bend??"  But "when will it break or bend.."

Fix that and yer probably good to go..

Rance ;)

Thinkin they all seem to do it..

Strong work, Brisco!

Hope that didn't come from Pete.  You don't touch Pete's piece. . . B)

Keep your powder dry,

Kittery Trading Post?   I was just there and saw tons of factory demo rifles.....Sharps, HighWalls, 1866, 1873, etc...... Some good deals to be had.

Yes sir.  Kittery Trading Post. Some

of those Highwalls looked nice. Gonna have to get one eventually.

Guessing VTI is the best place for the loading gate.  Correct?

Yer best bet..

Just reinforce the one you have (the one that's in it) with JB Weld..

There has been many many topics on this

ol' wire on how to do it..

Rance ;)

Just my thinkin'

If ya want to get ya a new back up go for it..

but do the JB Weld fix on it too

So I checked and it wasn’t reinforced. Not surprised since it was a factory demo. I’m pretty sure I’m the first owner so everything is gonna be stock. Per your advice I checked other forums and pages. For guidance on the reinforcement. Waiting on it to cure. Then I’ll smooth it out.  Thanks again for the heads up.

I was at an indoor range and among all the bolt & black rifles on the rack for sale was a Uberti 1866 in 45LC.  Asked the fella behind the counter if I could shoot it in the range - Yep.  Chambered 5 rounds and only the 1st round in the tube would chamber.  Went back to the counter and told the fella - It's Broke.  Consignment price was $575 and asked to call the owner with a price of $425 for his broken rifle ... End of story $21 for a broken lifter spring :D

mine had that funky rear sight also, and it was the 1st thing I changed. Had to mount a sight reversed as those models are sho sort between the slot and receiver. Not a big deal, it works fine. Nice score !

Really?  I kinda like the sight. Sure it’s not ladder sight like a 1860, so less adjustment,  but I feel the flip down was serviceable. I also like the flip up for distance and thought the peep would be great for fast sight acquisition in SASS where it would be speed over accuracy. What did you get?

Slip your side plates on and Make sure that

your carrier slides easily (up and down) by your reinforced area..

Just looks like your ramp comes back quite a ways..

Rance ;)

Just sayin..

Yer gettin' there:)

Thanks. There is a video with the back plate on (load gate plate) and me working the action for clearance. Looks to be perfect clearance. After that I put both plates on and worked the action seems perfect. Thanks again for the heads up on the load gate. Any other suggestions for improvements on the yeller’ boy?
