Tyrel Cody Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Other than grips, consecutive serial numbers, and Montado hammers are they any different?
Augustus Goodnight Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 They also have a wider rear sight notch.
Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933 Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 All New Vaqueros have .140 sight notches.
Augustus Goodnight Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Thanks Larson, I didn't know that Ruger had made that standard on all NV's.
The Original Lumpy Gritz Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Most of the internal parts will NOT interchange either. OLG
Smokestack SASS#87384 Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Most of the internal parts will NOT interchange either. OLG Why would the internal parts not interchange?
The Original Lumpy Gritz Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Why would the internal parts not interchange? Ask Ruger Just look at the exploded views of both, and you see the different P/N's. I do know for fact the t'bar is not the same..... OLG

Abe E.S. Corpus SASS #87667 Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Don't forget the two gun hard case (that I don't use) and the little cartoon SASS Marshal emblems on the grips (which tend to fall off). Not knocking the SASS Edition revolvers; I've been shooting them for five years.
John Barleycorn, SASS #76982 Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 They would have sold a lot more if they also made the 357s in 5 1/2". I had to buy a standard pair and put SBH hammers on them.

Warden Callaway Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Why don't they offer the NMV in 44/40 or 44 Special?
Straight Arrow Hombre Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Why don't they offer the NMV in 44/40 or 44 Special? There was a special run of 44 special NMVs
El Hombre Sin Nombre Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Why don't they offer the NMV in 44/40 or 44 Special?I'd like a set in 44/40 as well. Didn't Ruger use the same barrels for 44/40 and 44 special in the original vaqueros?
Warden Callaway Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Assuming you could find 44 Special NMV, is it possible to get a spare cylinders and have them fitted and chambered for 44/40?
Phiren Smoke GUNFIGHTER Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 When the NRVs first came out the word was the rim on the 44-40 round was just enough bigger than 45lc that it could not be chambered with out interfering with the cylinder ratchet. I would think there would be room, with modification, since NRV cylinders are slightly larger diameter than Colts or clones. Since their introduction there was a special run of 44 sp, but there have been no 44-40s or 38-40s. Hope this helps, Smoke
The Original Lumpy Gritz Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 FWIW-The SASS/CAS market isn't 'diddly-squat', I'm sorry to say. It's all about the 'black gunz', these dayz--- OLG
