G. I. Tarpicker, SASS #998
Rainbow Bridge (author unknown) Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... GIT

Bama Red
Mace, we have had to put four of our five cats down in the past year. The youngest was fifteen and the oldest, eighteen. Each one hurt more than the last - something I didn't believe possible. Reading the words to "The Rainbow Bridge" helped us each time. God bless - our prayers are with you and your furry child. Allie Mo, SASS No. 25217
PS My beloved Piggy (a cat) lived to be 18. I still think of the funny things he did and sweet looks he would give me. He's the only cat I ever had who talked in sentences. Sigh!
Blackwater 53393
I never had much dealings with cats. My mom has had cats forever and a couple of them were characters, but I've almost always had a dog. Will Rodgers said if there were no dogs in heaven he wanted to go where the dogs went. That's the way I feel too. I suspect some folks feel that way about cats, and that's good with me.
Blackwater 53393
Ya' know? If I ever cross that rainbow bridge, I'm likely to have more friends around than I've ever had! I'll look forward to that walk somewhat. I smile alot these days remembering my many pet friends. Mace, brother, you will to. That I can promise. Thanks Mace I loss my wife last year, and I'm sure her two dauchounds meet her at the bridge, now she her dad and those two puppies are enjoying being there and will wait for the other three to show up. I guess that's when I should go also, to be with my wife and "kids" Tell your wife when she's doing something fun or is with the grandbabies the spirit of her puppy is wagging his tail and running along her side. When she looks at the clouds and envision's her dog jumping from it to her lap, she should smile and say "That a boy" ENG
Filthy Harry, SASS #24924
I've said this before, but I've got to repeat it. I was working racehorses for a living and the question came up in the tack room about dogs going to Heaven. An old trainer said that the Bible mentions horses and chariots. He said if there are horses in Heaven, there has to be hay and straw. That means there are mice. Where there are mice, there have to be cats. If there are mice and cats, there just have to be dogs. It only makes sense. Heaven has to have my dogs and horses to be Heaven. Just my opinion.
