Howdy from a new kid in WA

Howdy pards!

Joined SASS a last month ago after discovering a chapter (Pan Handle Regulators, Idaho) within 5 miles of my place. I am a 22+ year Army Officer, and originally a Columbus, OH native. US History major by degree, love of the Civil War and Old West (don't we all?). Wanted to get into CAS back in 93, but didn't have the funds or time. Years have passed, I checked out the Pacific NW scene, it looks good, and am all in. A lot of other boards require an intro post before any other posting, so just following that ettiquette, plus it's always polite to say howdy to the gals and fellas. Looking forward to makin some rounds and meetin new friends come spring!

Forgot to mention, I'm a Mustang, crossed over the the "darkside" after E7 and 18 plus years. Nothing against my brother Officers, though, I've enjoyed walking both paths and respect the Soldier, Non-Com and Commissioned Officer likewise.

Thanks to the kind folks at SASS HQ for allowing me my alias. I'm Graverobber Six. I previously served with the 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment (Kansas and Iraq). For those of you that don't know, the 18th was one of about six Regular Army regiments who saw service as the only Regular Brigade in the Civil War's Western theater. Rock of Chickamauga fame. Not to mention, they were originally mustered at Camp Chase, in Columbus, OH. To make this long story short, Graverobber 6 was my call sign, as I was the PL for the medical platoon. A medical play on words if you will. 6 became Six to give it a more old west feel. Great to be here.

Welcome from a former Army Sawbones. Did time in Saudi/Iraq during the 90/91 time frame during Desert Shield/Storm. I was with the 47th CSH out of Fort Lewis. Good group of people around here. If you ever make it over to the west side of the state, come shoot with us at Mima, and I'll even provide you a cot and MRE, and we can swap war stories. ;)

Welcome to one of the most fun things you can do with guns.I have to say I've been doing this for 9 plus years and finally got around to joining SASS a few years ago because I wanted to start traveling around and shooting with other clubs.Met some of the most fun and friendliest people I've ever met during these years. If you get the chance, try the club in Spirit Lake Idaho.Smallish club but a hoot to shoot with.I know you won't regret it.I'm going to try making it back there again sometime this year and for me it's about a 350 mile run.

:FlagAm: Greetings from San Antonio. I am an Air Force mustang with 14 enlisted (E6)and 16 officer (O4). I know what you mean about appreciating both enlisted and officer. If you ever get down to Fort Sam Houston we have three clubs in San Antonio proper.

Graverobber Six,

Thank you for your service. My dad served in the medical corp. in WWII. I would love to sit down with you and talk some time.

Welcome to the fire and CAS, the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

Welcome from a 13 year Officer in the Washington Army National Guard (insert national guard joke of your choice here) with a couple trips to the sand box. As Okie said, if you get over to the wet side of the state let me know. You are gonna have a great time in this most amazing game.

I sent Holden A Grudge a little more personal PM, but want this as a matter of public record, out of my pie hole anyway. He made a light hearted remark about the Regular Army pickin on the National Guard. Maybe 20 years ago there was a disparity, but now the only real difference is that the Regular Army has a little fancier equipment. The USAR and Army Guard are out there bustin their humps and doin more than there fair share of deployments. I'll salute ya, not pick on ya!

Guest Copper Mart

Let me add my welcome to the list, sir.

You're lucky to be right in the middle of a patch of SASS clubs; Mica Peak Marshals who shoot first and third Saturdays out East of Mica, El Buscaderos who shoot second and fourth Sundays up at Spirit Lake, Pan Handle Regulators in Otis Orchards (range is too muddy right now, but they shoot first and third Sundays if I recall properly) and the Windy Plains Drifters (not sure when they shoot) out by Medical Lake. Good venues and a nice variety of stages. If the weather is good I'll probably gather up an arm load of firewood and shoot at Spirit Lake this Sunday. You can keep busy all winter reloading if you want to shoot them all. I look forward to meeting you one of these first days.

Mart...
