Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 tha worst I've seen in close to 40 years, Including some real disasters in California. They have a show about once every six weeks and they just keep getting smaller. The vendors are unfriendly, pushing junk or very over priced products. Lots of .50 BMG guns, including a semi-auto version of Ma Deuce. Also a dozen or so PPSh 41 SMGS, a MP 38, and a herd of hime grown crap, and one guy offered me $250.00 for my Colt .380 Govmt Model in a solid 90+% condition while he had one at a much worse for wear POS gun for $700.00. He got piXXed when I walked away laughing. Another guy was offering some sub-standard holsters and touting them as CCW APPLIANT. I pointed out to him and several people drooling over his crap the my pants pocket was also CCW Compliant and told him (and anyone listening ) that it was a bold-faced scam. He send the security idiots after me and I backed them down when one reached for my arm. I told everyone in range of my voice that this guy had NO AUTHORITY to arrest me, nor detain me, and that, if he laid a hand on me they'e have to clean him up with a mob and a sponge. (A phrase I only recently heard, but it seemed appropriate). $16.00 and I'll never go back.
Dilli GaHoot Galoot Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 But how were the Beanie Babies and random animal jerky vendors doing?

Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474 Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 For a real crappy "Gun Show", drop in to a Canadian one. SHUDDER. You can find a few fudge dealers though.

Down South, lets not forget the 'flavor roasted peanut' vendors at the gun shows....... along with pocketbook vendors for women who are looking for a pocketbook to carry their EDC piece. I will admit that a good many of the gun show vendors here in E.TN are legit and courteous. Prices often seem high, but eh, everything else is also. ..........Widder
Matthew Duncan Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 I went to a gun show once. I didn't realize I’d have to pay admittance to look over the merchandise. Seem like a scam to me.
watab kid Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 iquit going to them in the last couple years unless i was off work and had nothing else to do or a friend / family member said "lets do it" for all pof your reasons above , never took a table but have some id like to sell off ,
Rye Miles #13621 Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 I go to them when I can, some are good some not. I’ve never got into any arguments with anyone. The vendors pay a lot of money for tables so they can ask what they want. If it’s too much it doesn’t bother me I just ignore them. It’s called capitalism!
Rip Snorter Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 If you paid for a table you are a vendor / retailer. Customer service wins the day.
watab kid Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 i have NO problem with charging what you feel you need , i can choose to buy or not , that has nothing to do with why i do or do not go to them , i go to amuse myself and look at interesting things , if i find something to buy i guess i win , normally i dont as i generally already have it or dont want it , im a capitalist - i believe in it to the core , what im finding less than inviting are the rows of tables with stuffed animals , and fantasy items , trinkets , costume jewelry , clubs and fundraisers i could care less about , i pay to get in im not looking for that crap , but then again they paid for their tables .......so perhaps i should just let it go and not go , bottom line is no one forced me to go , no one forced me to pay , i can go buy beer instead and be just as happy in the end smoking a cigar with my friends , please note that im al for the hey day of gun shows coming back , woith all the other stuff to , just dont leave out the guns and associated items , as well as the deals we used to see ,
Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474 Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 I was lucky and found an on line Canadian site, that provides Trader Ratings etc. for buyers and sellers in it's wide ranging offerings. I have been able to buy and sell all sorts of things, including knives, camping gear, rifles, shoguns and prior to the "Freeze" on legal handgun sales, a number of handguns, including my SASS guns. Is there something like that in the USA?
