Texas Jack Black
The debt is not the problem The U.S. can easily grow the economy out of this debt It is all about debt to GDP. This is the real reason the border is open. Forget the politics and think about an aging US population .We need younger people to work and pay into the system etc. PS I am not for open borders.

Rye Miles #13621
So they have a temporary agreement to a 60% raise and limited automation. Great now the bananas and booze can roll again! 😂🙄

At three years, it’s over $30.00 an hour and at six years it’s a few cents short of $40.00 an hour. SO! In five years, starting pay would be $35.00 an hour and topped out would be over $70.00! Now! It’s been almost 15 years since I retired. I had fifteen years at that job as a fabricator and electrician with mid level management responsibilities at the largest entertainment transportation company in the country. My hourly rate was just over $31.00 an hour! I DID get plenty of overtime. I made a pretty good living… Different costs of living. Granted we would have to figure in inflation, but $31.00, which is roughly $63,000, doesn't go nearly as far in the Northeast. On edit: I live in a middle to upper middle class town. A quick search on homes.com Cheapest house for sale: $357,400, 3 beds 1 bath, 1068 square feet Cheapest condo for sale: $164,000, 1 beds 1 bath, 720 square feet Cheapest condo/apt for rent: $2,248-$3,553 1-2 Beds, 1-2 Baths 803+Sq Ft 6% sales tax on most things. Pat Riot
I think the media is down playing actual wages. $31.00 per hour is probably the lowest paying job on the scales. As I said before, I know some dock workers. They live a helluva lot better than I ever did, money wise, anyway.

Heard that on a radio show.

Had to pay thousands of people that stayed home and collected a paycheck. 1 1

CAD systems were coming, the smart ones paid to get training in them as they knew the paper-based drawings would go away. High tech is strongly anti union, as it limits moving up the food chain. Unfortunately, they did not realize the engineers would do their own drawings on no longer need the specialized services. some are probably Walmart greeters today. They needed to get engineering degrees and move up the food chain. The Teamsters can probably not stop automation entirely, not if it is worth paying the workers to stay home. Would be better in the long run to find a way for them to move up the food chain. Edited October 5 by John Kloehr
Tex Wilson
Negotiations are suspended until January 15th 2025, just until the election is over. If Harris/Walz are elected, we are all screwed, they are Pro union communists. 🤬

Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
It was the late 60s. I was working in a packing house often helping drivers. There was a regular run to Jersey shore with frozen beef stuff. Drivers carried a little extra cash for the crew.
