Timers distribution within clubs

Do any of the gun clubs which have multiple timed activities have a central place for timers used for SASS. Wild Bunch,Steel Challenge, IDPA, USPSA? If so, how do you do it. Check out sheets?

Or is it pretty much each activity has their own timers?

Just trying to get a better feel since many activities at our club are wanting  new timers.

It has been my (non-SASS) life experience the larger the group that has access to equipment with no accountability in place the more likely the equipment will be abused, misused, damaged (and not reported) or lost.

Wolff’s Rowdy Rangers have their own timers that stay under their direct control.

The club I was once match director at had three events using timers. We had a 3 drawer filing cabinet, one drawer for each event holding items like score sheets, etc., needed for that event including timers set up for just that event. No more fiddling around trying to figure out how to deactivate the delayed start, etc., used on another event.

The cowboys have their own range and clubhouse at our main club.  Everything is kept locked up there.  Currently, there are no other timed events.  However, we would likely keep our own timers, etc. separate and locked up should another shooting discipline ever share our range.
Several years ago, there was a group that practiced on our range.  Some our false fronts got shot up, litter was left, and the users even managed to take down lumber and sections of prop walls from the rafters in our pavilion and shot them up.  The main club moved them to another bay in another area and told them it was practice there or nowhere.  Hence, our determination to keep our own things locked up and for our use only.

Sad you had to go through that. Many many years ago we had been supporting a different discipline by buying their supplies, targets, tape and wood to mount stuff. All our bays are marked “lead bullets only”. They shot Saturday, we came in Sunday and six or seven of our steel targets had holes clear through them (223 & 308 size). This lead to the argument of “they were like that when we got here”, “who shoots modern rifles at 40 feet?” and “where did the holes come from in some of our props”. Finally settled when we found some pieces of their targets attached to our props! Asked them to replace what they broke, they said not our problem, asked them to leave!  Still hard feelings to this day. Not all jerks are nonshooters, some of our own community are just as bad.

Our club has its own range.  Timers are in the office.  We pull them out when we are setting up for our matches

our .22 & Pistol-Caliber Long Range event during our practice day also can grab one as needed

I carry extra 9v batteries in my gun cart
