Utah Bob #35998 Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 One of the great Western character actorsFor some reason I was researching him the other day. I forget why exactly. But I founf out how many movies/ tv shows he did. 266! Wow.
Cypress Sun Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 I had no idea that he'd been in that many movies and tv shows. I always remember him for portraying Texas Ranger Frank Hamer in Bonnie and Clyde and Uncle Jesse in The Dukes of Hazzard although I wasn't a Dukes fan.
J-BAR #18287 Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 The very definition of a journeyman actor. Did his job, made a comfortable living and career with his performances. Can't ask for more than that.
Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474 Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 Any relation to Gomer Pyle????

That was the Dukes of Hazzard, where he played the patriarch of the Duke family - Uncle Jesse Duke. Did they ever explain, on that show, why those three young people were living with their uncle? Bo and Luke were brothers, and Daisy was their cousin, but she didn't call him "Dad" she called him "Uncle Jesse" also, so that's three separate branches of a family that's all living together.
Rye Miles #13621 Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0594572/ This is the episode where he’s Black Jack Hagen, Festus’ murderous uncle. Great character actor!!
