Anyone familiar with this outfit...?

Anyone here familiar with this outfit?

Bear Creek Arsenal

Sassparilla Kid "built" an AR- type rifle a few year ago in 6.5 Grendel.  On a whim I did a quick Google search last night just to see what an upper in that caliber would cost - and this came up.  At $253.08, it seems mighty inexpensive to me ~ honestly or suspiciously so?

Search shows they are a legit outfit.  However reviews complain about poor customer service and they appear to have very poor quality control.

I'd stick with Palmetto State Armory.

some years back before I left the place I was working , I ordered in several BCA complete uppers for both AR 10 and AR15 for folks

seemed to shoot good enough , matter of fact , now I think on it , there were some BCA rifles in the shop

do not recall , having to fix any of them

BCA is a legitimate operation.   They provide an affordable product which sometimes means something gets past quality control that shouldn't have.   I've talked to owners that had said problems, customer service took care of them but not as expediently as some prefer.  Everything I've bought from BCA has worked.

The AR market seems to be softening and the prices reflect that.

I have bought their barrels and have not regretted it. I bought one barrel with a .223 Wylie chamber and a 1:8 twist that shot under 1 MOA with Independent and Federal 5.56 - 55 grain mil-spec ammo. Like an idiot I sold that gun. Still kicking myself over that.

If I were putting an AR together I would definitely consider that upper.

I have 3 of their uppers, a 10.5 inch in 5.56, a 20 inch heavy fluted in 5.56 and a 16 inch in 7.62x39. All shoot great with no qc issues. They're all side chargers, but they do offer some with the conventional rear charging handle. Hard to beat for the price.

Friends don't let friends buy Bear Creek, if you got something good, buy some lotto tickets, you got lucky.

Like previously mentioned, Primary Arms and Palmetto State Armory are the go-to for quality budget builds.

Just kicking the tires here...
Q: what would be the recommended for an AR-type in 223 caliber.
Focus entirely on reliability and durability.

An upper in 5.56 for an every day plinker. If precision is your goal then an upper in .223 Wylde

On a budget, go with Palmetto State.

Only interested in reliable and durable.

Somebody local mentioned Daniel Defense.

I assume the 5.56 can also shoot standard 223, which is how I am stocked.
