When Your Dad Is a Hatter

Recommended Posts

Welke sprocht er?

That is just on the edge of verstehen.

I ran into this once before with Afrikaans so I looked him up.

Danish, which is also a Germanic language. That is how you instill a desire to learn, by making it fun!

I don't think that kid could have smiled any bigger.  Good on dad for having such fabulous quality time with him.  I'll bet he's learning a valuable skill at the same time.......

my first thought matched alpos , i guess t comes with age , the mad hatter was a thing in our younger years ......as was the playing with mercury - ive not had issues but then i wasnt exposed all that much - thermometers were not all that often broken in my neighborhood , but i still have a mercury switch n my electrical kit ,

I'm assuming it's cultural, based on what you can see on the father. But I just found it shocking to see tattoos on that little boy's arm.

Might be temporary.  Remember the tattoo transfers in Cracker Jacks?

looks like the young feller is a righty AND left eye dominant

Isn’t 10/6 the same as 5/3?

A form of mercury was used to cure felt.  Hatters could get mercury poisoning from inhaling it’s funes over the course of their careers.

That 10/6 is the price, ten shilling sixpence, or half a guinea.

That never occurred to me. The few times that I saw pictures of the headerHATTER with that tag, I presumed it was a size. But instead of 6 7/8 or 7 1/2 it was 10/6, and the size tag was on the outside, because he was crazy.
