Reverend P. Babcock Chase
Howdy Kid, I can't help you with a load for what you want, but I suspect to drive that 525 gr. bullet at that velocity you are going to have to absorb some real punishment. Best of luck. Rev. Chase
Pb Mark
Does the manufacturer of your gun have any suggestions? An 1885 Badger Browing vs a Trapdoor...which will survive?

Lucky R. K.
I would suggest you contact the manufacturer of the powder you plan to use. Several years ago (2008) I did this when looking for a smokeless load for a Rolling Block chambered in 40-65 Winchester. They suggested I use 5744 with a "starting point" of xx.xx grains and a "max." range of xx.xx grains. With things the way they are today they may not still offer the information. Bailey Creek,5759
A cartridge that big is a Black Powder round. If you can find Trail Boss powder, it would be a good powder.
Bailey Creek,5759
I looked at my copy of Cartridges of the World. They list a load IMR, 4198 powder 24 grains with a 485-grain bullet. At 1300 fps, with a Lyman bullet Number 451112. There was also a load for a 550 Grain Bullet using 5744, 30 Grains of powder. At 1275 feet per second. Hoss
I’d try 5744. Works well in my 45-70 25 grns 535 grn Bullet 1260 fps 200 yds
Griff
Lyman's 50th Reloading Handbook lists several loads for either a 500 or 525 grain cast bullet... I'm sure you can extrapolate a safe load from there. One can never have too many reloading manuals.
Silver Creek Jack
Accurate 5744 is your friend.

Caladisi kid
What is the twist in your barrel, assume it is somewhere around 1/20 for the heavier bullet? Itchy minds want to know.
