  1. Had a stock nm Vaquero like that once... Try this maybe - Slowly apply pressure to the cylinder with the support hand while slowly cocking the hammer with your primary hand. Cock it slowly while the cylinder is prevented from free spinning with the light pressure applied to the cylinder. After the hammer cocks, where is the cylinder? Still needs to spin to reach the lock-in position? (Under-timed). Locks perfectly (timed perfectly). Already past the locking position or cylinder locks before hammer does (Overtimed). Check this for each position on the cylinder. Call Ruger with your results. Probably going back to Ruger if the gun has no basic assembly issues from being taken apart. Just a thought.
  2. After seeing a TikTok video showing how to recharge an EV using the iPhone battery, think it's now about time to buy that new EV!
  3. I do not see the problem. Give them someone else's email and problem solved. Plenty of them out there. Walmart's corporate email comes to mind.
  4. Rifled barrel round ball in both calibers shooting steel, like maybe on a woods-walk match.... Might want to volunteer to fix the chains and go down into the woods and put the targets back up. Very nice quality stuff from Chambers. Excellent choice.
  5. Buy the old way. Do your own research. Look at the public available information about the house of interest. Taxes, previous prices etc. The primary person on your side could be the title company you choose. They do all the paperwork. Listen to their advice vs any realtor. Sometimes they can be a good friend if chosen wisely. They know the home inspectors if you don't. Twenty percent down, skip the mortgage insurance costs. Get your loan prequalified. Negotiate with the seller's realtor, you do not need one. Be prepared to walk away if your gut tells you to as it is your biggest expense in life. Hire a good inspector. Plumbing, HVAC, roof, foundation, electrical, windows.... everything is going up. I'd buy in VW or PA before all of the homes are purchased by investors. It is happening everywhere. Personal opinion only. Home and car interest rates in affordable areas are not going down too much even if recession hits. Too much free money still floating around. Try for a 10- or 15-year mortgage if possible. Actually, the Fed just said the opposite of what they said the day before...we sell our dept, mostly to ourselves. My guess is no more very low rates. Banksters will prefer to sell 50-year mortgages. We have been conditioned to only care what the monthly payment is, not what it costs. Just the way it is. Good luck. Home ownership is a great thing.
  6. Desert dwelling Bigfoot low on calcium.
  7. It's all opinion but with synthetic oil, I use a little bit of warm up, then put the car in gear and warm up the auto transmission for about a minute before driving in cold weather. Warming up a transmission can't hurt. No clue about those CVT's. Going to research the start-stop eliminators. Like the idea. On at least a Grand Cherokee, there is a simple way to get around the start-stop. That little battery under the seat, has a plug-in wire that senses the voltage of the start-stop battery for safety reasons. Just unplug it. Gives a dash warning, but no detectable computer error. Never need to buy a start-stop battery again. Back to the football games. Gotta see who the Refs are going to root for today.
  8. Anybody know a Firefighter? Alabama Firefighters Forced to Close Interstate, Pour 36,000 Gallons of Water Into Burning EV to Put It Out (msn.com)
  9. My only true experience with EV's beyond electric golf carts is what I see. My city was gifted eight public electric busses. Pretty good use for the technology - "free" busses and taxpayer funded charging of them. Soon after, one of the busses went up in flames in the bus charging station. One real good fire. Did not destroy the building or other capital equipment. Nothing to see here folks...
  10. Kind of interesting thread. I see two guests pumping up EV's here. Not a single real member of this group unless I missed something. Little real support of EV's is indicative of the marketing and taxpayer money spent trying to force the public to buy and support EV's. Nothing more. What next? Will the auto insurance companies be paid to manipulate? Will we need to carry our EV card in order to enter stores? Will our health insurance increase if we do not buy one? This is a flop. I'll trade you a Snickers Bar for an EV, then maybe. Push that thing into a lake and then collect the fish... They have their uses too. Inside buildings and places like underground cities. Tesla and Musk will possibly use them on his stated future desired home on Mars. People in congested cities will use them if driving short distances. Busses. Trash trucks. People who simply want one, etc. Maybe if they would have totally changed the battery design. It was totally feasible when this whole game began, to build liquid electrolyte batteries. All gas stations could have installed electrolyte tanks. To recharge the battery, pull up to the pump, pump out the old and pump in the new electrolyte just like fueling a gasoline car. Many choices for different transportation models are available. Most will probably flop until there is a real need, or fuel economy requirements simply destroy the viability of ICE.
  11. There is good news for EV buyers: (Dec 14,2023) EV Inventories Hit Record High in US as Cars Pile Up on Dealer Lots Now 114 days’ worth of supplies in US, twice last year’s level Both Ford and GM are pulling back on production plans
  12. Facts: Want to delete tracking data from your car? There’s an app for that Here’s some good news. Privacy4Cars has a free iOS and Android app that deletes your personal information from vehicles you drive or are connected to. This includes your phone book, call logs, text messages, navigation history, home address, garage door codes, passwords, biometrics, vehicle credentials and more.
  13. NHTSA comment period is about to begin for two more automotive initiatives. Remote shutoff switches and in car breathalyzers. NHTSA sounds like they will be accepting public comments for the fact that both systems are expected to mot properly work at times. General Motors will lead the change. GM target date for 2024/25 all cars sold. Fact. Nothing political here folks, just the facts. Automobile movement of people will be able to be controlled in the future, will it not? No new cars are appealing to me. One thing the EV push will probably provide is another multi-trillion-dollar spending spree supported by the general public to upgrade the electric grid. In 2016, all new cars had to provide tracking capability by law. It is what it is, but sometimes wonder about our kid's future for many reasons beyond the cars they will drive or perhaps summons to ride in.
  14. A 7000# electric wonder mobile capable of sucking electric juice to the tune of 0-60 in 2.3 seconds VS got to move to Afghanistan for a very fuel-efficient diesel Toyota Tacoma. Thanks. This game has nothing to do with the environment. 1:16:90 Rule is unarguable. Opinion only, of course.
  15. Smart man. Lucky too, able to afford the solar. These newfangled gas hot water heaters use an electric powered blower to vent horizontally. Maybe some people have them already installed. When the lights go out, the gas water heater goes out with it. This progress puts us back to the wood fire for hot bath water during a power outage. I still remember the Euell Gibbons commercial phrase: "There is a big difference between an active environmentalist and an environmental activist." Currently, would love to have a new 2023 Toyota HiLux for $13,200.... but will not get started on that ramble...
  16. Google the Toyota 1:16:90 Rule. At the current moment, think Toyota once again, gets it correct. Hybrids currently make sense for all types of car travel to me. Almost time to get in the Subaru in lower corner of NM and rip back to central KS. About a 10-hour trip with hardly breaking too many speed limits. Depending on the wind, either a one or two stops quick for gasoline. Not prime time for EV's yet. Will it eventually be hydrogen fuel cells, nuclear mini powerplants, or stop and plug in to a public battery charger? Something totally different like time travel via Startrack? Maybe one day, someone will let the free market decide. I'll leave it all up to the grandkids.
  17. Tesla recalls over 120,000 cars over door risks (yahoo.com) Love those Tesla EVs. Yesterday recall for door risks, only 120K of them. Last week 2 Million of them for killing people with their autopilot. Read about their suspensions breaking, etc Read about the percentage of working public chargers. Musk is an innovator and interesting individual, makes me want one of those stainless-steel battery powered Tesla trucks, in H.O scale to go with the miniature train track. Guess if you have a service center somewhere near to fix them.... why not? Insurance is not cheap, but for those that want an electronic device on wheels (don't forget those special tires due to the weight), put your money down. Sounds like their new dry film battery processing will eventually get there, but for now, no clue if it is a good or defective one.... interesting read though. Cannot read about Tesla while driving my 2001 Ram though... I deserve a government tax credit for this inconvenience. About that 8 year, 100K government battery mandate.... the EV is covered for 8 years, 100K, period. After this, owner is on their own to replace the battery. It may get as many batteries required during this period, or just one original battery as long as the software says the battery has 80% capacity left. Will we see software manipulation to prevent this high expense battery warrantee work?
