GOOD NEWS!  Schoolmarm is out of surgery and will spend an hour or so in recovery.

Doctor says all went very well and she SHOULD get to go home tomorrow afternoon.

I reckon I’ll hang around until they get her settled into a room and then go get us something to eat!

I’m going to spend the night here and let Hatfield take care of the dog and the house.

More when I know more!!

Schoolmarm spent the night in some discomfort, but says that the pain in her legs, a major problem, was greatly diminished.

She has had her coffee this morning and is waiting for the physical therapy people to come in.  The doctor should be here later this morning and we’ll discuss when she gets to go home.

She’s in better spirits and says to tell everyone thanks for the prayers and support!

We spent an extra night in the hospital. Schoolmarm was really uncomfortable and had a very minor issue with her blood pressure.  It took forever for the physical therapy people to show up. The finally came in this morning and showed us how to get up and down safely and to use a walker.

Seems like she’s improving much faster since we got her out of the hospital bed.

We’re home now. She was able to climb up the back stairs with the aid of the hand rail and she is able to stand up much straighter than before the surgery.

She still has a ways to go, but it’ll be a lot easier and better from here on out.

Thanks again, EVERYONE!!

If a walker is going to be a permanent thing for her, you might consider an upright/tall/armrest walker for her.

My wife has arm and wrist problems, as well as back and hip issues, so we got a Zler from Walmart and she really likes it.  It rolls a lot better than the little aluminum things, has a built in seat, hand brakes, and decent sized wheels.

Nope!  The doc says two weeks or so and she should be walking on her own.  No driving ‘til she gets off the pain meds. Actual PT to start after four weeks.

We had the walker, still in the box, from my episode during the holidays in 2019/20.  I’d come home using a cain and never took the walker out of the package. I HAD thought of donating it to the facility that did my rehab.  Glad now that we didn’t get around to doing that.

After some of my “incidents” my wife and I gathered up my medical equipment, knee scooter, walker, 2 pair of crutches, shower seat and a couple of other things and took them to a senior recovery center and donated them. They appreciated it.

I am so glad your wife is doing well. :)
