With that selection it'd have to be beer all the time.  I'd probably fit in better that way anyhow,

Now we know why OZ leads the world in per capita beer consumption.

Granddad had one of these Monitor tops, sulfur dioxide refrigerant.  Got it shortly after WWII and it was still running as a Beer box in '67 or '68.

What's "junkets"?

In that refrigerator ad, it says it will preserve, "fresh food, hard butter, jellies and junkets".

USA, West coast. Big city. Starbucks (they sell coffee). I'm finally at the from of the line and ask for a "small coffee."

Blank stare...

"How do you want it?" she asks...

Umm, in a cup?

After several exchanges, she understood I just wanted it poured from the pot into a cup. Lid optional. Geez, she did not know how to make that variation!

What kind of beans did I want it made from? Sumatran? Kenyan?

Columbian would be fine, anything Robusta is fine, better than Arabica, Liberia, or Excelsa. Balancing flavor vs caffeine content.

Blank stare...

Had to talk her through it.

Still $6 for a cup! This was 20 years ago. The crap Yuban at home at $4 per pound was better.

Imagine her fathers reaction when you show up in that for Prom Night. :o

I actually had a Studebaker Lark in college that would go flat, both seats fully reclined.
