We used to have these buggers when we lived in the South Pacific.  I don't know if they are edible but you have to watch those claws.  If the crabs use those to break into coconut shells, imagine what they would do to a finger or toe?

If so, YUM!

Get me a bucket of melted butter!

I believe harming them is frowned on. That could wind up to be the most expensive crab dinner you'll ever have.

I read that they are also variably toxic without a way to decide which is safe to eat.  Got to tell you, protecting vermin that harm humans just doesn't compute.  Not my country, so only a comment.  Here we just do what is necessary to stay safe, any legal means from shovels on up.

You guys don't think their cute????????

They fly over our house in their tens of thousands every night. They land in the palm trees to feed and they fight, scream and bicker with each ALL night until they fly off to roost in the day.

Funny looking palm tree.

Its day time, that's what the colony is roosting in for the day. They feed in palm trees, fruit trees at night.

I bet he liked people doing that.

Take it out and drive on the Ocean Beach, and then 3 years later by a new vehicle because that one has rusted apart from the bottom up.

Holdens....the car of the people.

They used to rust pretty easily from rain water let alone saltwater!

The back end reminds me of my old '61 Chevy panel truck. Had a 327 with a 4 spd. Kinda miss that rig too!:)

Went through one of these years back, here in the U.S.  Some idiots rolled down the windows, or even got out of cars in the lion area.  Worse was a primate sanctuary.  Some critters would get on the cars and rip off sideview mirrors, ariels (yes, that long ago!) or windshield wipers.  Debris littered the roadside.

This one closed around 1991, can you imagine the litigation these days?
