Very common, same as when a mate says something just a touch too funny or unbelievable "Surely mate you're takin' the p#ss with that one". Or if you're a little more affectedly genteel (hoity toity) "Surely you're trying to take' the p#ss out of me with that one". 1 1 2 Quote

Rip Snorter Posted September 25, 2023 Posted September 25, 2023 I would love to get to AUS, but air travel is miserable, and it is one heck of a flight. Dad did it for business at a few years younger than my current age, and actually had to spend some downtime recuperating on his return. Had some very fine times long ago with Australian guys I met in an Earls Court Hotel, we cut a swath with the ladies, and drank a bit. Amazingly, two visits, no arrests. 2 2 Quote

My two sons have been twice now to the U.S on business. Once to L.A and once to somewhere in Minnesota. They sure did spend some money at gun ranges where they could use a variety of machine guns! My wife and I have always wanted to go and see some old Western towns and visit as many country museums as we could. But the 4 hour drive to the airport, the queues, the taxis, the flight time, interconnecting flights etc etc etc and not to mention way too many humans for my liking......I think we left it too long. 5 Quote

We did one longish flight with an overnight layover a few years ago, not sure that wasn't worse than straight through, I was looking at the clock through the night. As for too late, been there in a few ways. Wanted horses on the ranch. Never managed. Grandchildren, though that is more my Wife than me, a hard decision for the kids in these times. 4 Quote

I remember these pumps that had to be reset to zero before pumping your gas. Are those glass bubbles on the side to show the flow of the gas? While driving and refueling in Germany, I was misled with the pricing. Here in Texas, it's priced by the Gallon, not by the Quart (y'all call it a Liter)! The prices posted were the same, but not the same volume! But the Autobahn made up for the cost! It was GLORIOUS! Edited September 27, 2023 by Brazos John 1 3 Quote

It's potato chips. Chips could be anything. Potato chips, corn chips, poker chips, wood chips. So those salty pieces of potatoey goodness are potato chips. Need a little help here people. I tried potatoy, potatoie, and potatoey. None of them look right. Asking the correct way to spell it is probably dumb because I don't think it's a real word, but how would you spell it? 1 1 Quote
