Charlie Harley, #14153 Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 I’m working up some hunting loads for my 38-55 Sharps. I have lots of 220 grain jacketed soft point pills, and am looking for thoughts from those who get double duty from their guns. Yes, it shoots great with Goex and a postell, but feels down right anemic if a deer were the target instead of a gong. I appreciate any thoughts the Wire might have.
Sedalia Dave Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 What is the max chamber pressure your rifle is rated for?
Cusz M. Dutch SASS Life 55326 Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 BP works just great on deer today. Deer have not gotten any tougher. Mine did not know the difference and complete pass through.

Michigan Slim Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 I'm real partial to 3031 in the .38-55 and .30-30. I cast my own bullets too. A 250 grain cast RNFP using 30 grains of 3031 has worked real nice for me.
