She walked up to me and said, "I found the perfect tree!" Mind, we hadn't even explored the trees, she saw it as she drove up. She stood by it as I wandered to look over the others. But she had "The Perfect Tree!" And indeed it was. About 10 feet, full, very symmetrical, gorgeous. So we bought it. Got it home, managed to get it into the stand. We always let a tree "relax" a day before decorating it, Half an hour later it fell over. Got it back up, and it fell over again. Put an eye-screw into the wall to tie it off. It fell over. When it fell over at 0300, I got a quarter sheet of plywood, mounted the stand on it with carriage bolts, put 3 cinderblocks on it. Tree didn't fall over again. But LORDY! was that tree gorgeous! I’m still stuck on the idea your wife and ex-wife alone in a car. I can’t wrap my head around that scenario in my world as a fatality would have occurred. 1 3 Quote

It was on the railing but a woodpecker knocked it in. They come in rather hot sometimes. I put feeders on our blinds. Keeps you busy when the deer are not there. I highly recommend safety glasses! 4 1 Quote

The 3 of us would go square dancing together. My ex and I also danced the rounds between tips. When I needed a break the two of them would dance the tip with my ex as the left hand (man's) part. My ex and her husband would on a somewhat regular basis would treat us to dinner out. 4 Quote

Wallaby Jack, SASS #44062 Posted November 26, 2023 Posted November 26, 2023 Dearest Uncle Alpo, Allison is the name of many/multiple speed gearboxs' (transmissions) used to propel many brands of very large trucks along the tarmac. It's kind of important that it functions properly. 3 2 2 Quote
Alpo Posted November 26, 2023 Posted November 26, 2023 Thank you. I was trying to make it some kind of joke about those confused people that don't know what they are. When I was a kid we call transmissions trannies. 1 2 Quote
Alpo Posted November 26, 2023 Posted November 26, 2023 By the way. Does tarmac mean something different down there? Here it is generally only used in reference to an airport. You got the runway and then every place else that's paved is the tarmac (even when it's concrete). Tarmacadam is used for paving a lot of things, but here the very large trucks (not really that large compared to some of the pictures I've seen of y'all's) would be driving down the "asphalt", or the "blacktop".
