I never felt Doris Day did well as a western character. The Ballad Of Josie was NOT one of her better efforts. Westerns are not great vehicles for everyone! I don't think Pee Wee Herman or Jim Parsons would fare well as a western movie hero. There are many others as well! Miss Day was fabulous in many other genres of film. Not westerns!!
