Chief Rick Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 If a 4cc Lee dipper equals roughly 7/8 oz of shot, would a "square load" of BP then also be from the same 4cc Lee dipper? That looked like a LOT of powder in comparison to the shot column. I have a bunch of Winchester AA hulls.
The Original Lumpy Gritz Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Real BP? What granulation? OLG
Warden Callaway Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Jed I Knight just put up a good video on loading black powder shotgun shells. He's using AA hulls.

Not aware of any local/semi-local stores that carry real BP. Most shooters that I know who reload real BP order in bulk.

I'll PM you the weight of FFFg APP I use with 7/8 oz of shot for you to compare to.
Three Foot Johnson Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Some of my older 12g BP boxes have 4.0cc 1 1/8 written on them. All my current 12g BP boxes have 3.7cc and 1 or 7/8 written on the box. No idea what any of that means...
Tyrel Cody Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 To answer the question asked, yes, that is a square load. A lot of us use less black powder than shot. Personally I use 45-50gr of FFg and 7/8oz shot.
Chief Rick Posted January 27, 2018 Author Posted January 27, 2018 Thank you to everyone for the replies and PM's. Will work on getting some new wads and experiment with different loads for the best crimp/pattern.
