Black Powder Shotgun Shell Loading

If a 4cc Lee dipper equals roughly 7/8 oz of shot, would a "square load" of BP then also be from the same 4cc Lee dipper?

That looked like a LOT of powder in comparison to the shot column.

I have a bunch of Winchester AA hulls.

Real BP? What granulation?

OLG

All I have is FFFg American Pioneer Powder sub on hand.

Not aware of any local/semi-local stores that carry real BP.

Most shooters that I know who reload real BP order in bulk.

I'll PM you the weight of FFFg APP I use with 7/8 oz of shot for you to compare to.

Some of my older 12g BP boxes have 4.0cc 1 1/8 written on them. All my current 12g BP boxes have 3.7cc and 1 or 7/8 written on the box. No idea what any of that means... ;)

To answer the question asked, yes, that is a square load.

A lot of us use less black powder than shot. Personally I use 45-50gr of FFg and 7/8oz shot.

Thank you to everyone for the replies and PM's.

Will work on getting some new wads and experiment with different loads for the best crimp/pattern.
