Update on Australia's Gun Ban

My wife found this on the internet today. Here is a clear example of why we must defend the 2nd amendment with all our might!

Australian Gun Law Update;
Here's a thought to warm some of your hearts....

Hi Yanks, I thought you all would like to see the real
figures from Down Under. It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by a new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by our own
government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars.

The first year results are now in:
Australia-wide, homicides are up 6.2 percent,
Australia-wide, assaults are up 9.6 percent;
Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!
In the state of Victoria.....alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent.(Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not and criminals still possess their guns!)
While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady
decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since the criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly, while the resident is at home.

Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in 'successfully ridding Australian society of guns....'

You won't see this on the American evening news or hear your governor or members of the State Assembly disseminating this information.

The Australian experience speaks for itself. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws affect only the law-abiding citizens.
Take note Americans, before it's too late!

The NRA has been conducting Election Action Meetings throughout the United States--in every state--for interested local individuals to find out how they can help "get out the word" about protecting our 2nd Amendment rights.

 

There goal is to talk to, either by phone or by personal visit, every 2nd Amendment proponent that we have in the USA to try and rally all of the support at the polls come Nov 8th of those believers in the 2nd amendment. You are not going to be asked to call anyone that NRA is not pretty sure is for the 2A.

 

They have a couple of new tools--apps for your phone or tablet--that help you when you talk to someone. It is scripted text of 3 questions (4 if you get an affirmative repsonse to #3) that you ask people when you contact them.

Grabbing some statement off the internet is worth about what ya paid fer it.

I like accurate documentation. But that's just me.....

 

One red flag, are they talking about $900 to destroy one gun? Hmmmmm.....

First lets understand we are comparing apples and oranges here.

 

Australia has never had the gun culture and ownership numbers that the USA has and we see their use and carraige (in the main) completely different to our cousins (not the kissing kind!) Over Seas.

 

This is a very balanced review of the facts done by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and is well worth the read for a balanced view of our (I stress OUR) situation.

That's a story that was confirmed as false on Snopes and a couple other verification sites quite some time ago. Always worth checking a story before you post it.

Yes knife/sharp homicide went up (as a percentage).

Note all this graph shows is that of the given number of deaths they were caused as a percentage by gun V's knife/sharp. It doesnt say the number of deaths has increased.

From this study suicide rates are pretty steady. This does not disc means of suicide.

Again, can I stress that I in no way think that this experience could or should be replicated in the USA.

 

That is a decision for you and no one outside your country should be buying into this.
