Sitting in the Chemo room waiting for my blood test results. They are satisfied with my hand...wrist so that is a go. As long as white cells are normal it will be a go. This will be my 17th chemo treatment in 15 months. Cancer has stopped growing. Yeah...still stage 4...terminal as they always remind me but I am going to shoot at EOT as I remind them...lol...

They say end of what....still having a blast. Thanks all for the prayers and kind thoughts...Jim

I canceled Chemo for EOT...doing PET scans the morning of the 20th and Cowboy Small and I are leaving on the 21st...chemo that close to shooting is a huge drain...not sure I can shoot 4 stages a day without chemo but I am planning to cowboy up and give it my best shot. Still taking antibiotics for my hand but it is back to normal size....need my right hand...lol.. EOT was a blast last year...hoping for a repeat. Taking the Spencer rifle so I am guaranteed one of the slowest stages of EOT...YEEHAW. ...Jim

'Til The Storm Passes By

TILL THE STORM PASSES BY

In the dark of the midnight have I oft hid my face,

While the storm howls above me, and there's no hiding place.

'Mid the crash of the thunder, Precious Lord, hear my cry,

Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

Chorus

Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,

Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;

Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,

Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

Many times Satan whispered, "There is no need to try,

For there's no end of sorrow, there's no hope by and by"

But I know Thou art with me, and tomorrow I'll rise

Where the storms never darken the skies.

Chorus

Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,

Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;

Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,

Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

When the long night has ended and the storms come no more,

Let me stand in Thy presence on the bright peaceful shore;

In that land where the tempest, never comes, Lord, may I

Dwell with Thee when the storm passes by.

Chorus

Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,

Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;

Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,

Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

Jim No Horse/Alan/Chemo Sabe/Tusco Horse/Honorary JEDI #222,

That is a long name tag.

How was your PET scan this morning?

On a scale of 1 to 10, how are you feeling?

Of course, I'm just checking because I'm looking forward to that cold Sassparilla (Sarsaparilla) you promised me.

Plus, I want to make sure you prove to Hoss that you are not such a S-L-O-W draw on your wallet as Hoss claims.

However, since you are now a famous Honorary JEDI, I guess you'll be expecting us to buy you drinks, which, it would be my pleasure to do so.

See you there.

first time in history the words honorary and Jim No horse were in the same sentence. No wonder JNH wants the full appellation!

Hoss,

Don't know if you saw it.

I tried to do the corrections and wrote "Honary" (Ornery)...definition...easily annoyed, difficult to deal with or control.

I corrected it to Honorary, before anyone commented.

Update.

In case you didn't see Jim's comment on another thread...this is what he said about EOT and his visit to the doctor today.

"...had a flat out blast....next year maybe...just left oncologist today and newest PET scans show some tumors are smaller....yeehaw still Stage 4 terminal but improved whatever that means...lol...Jim"

We will keep on praying that he continues to improve, won't we?

At EOT he told me he didn't think he was handling his illness very well.

I think he is handling it much better than most of us would and very bravely, don't you think?

He is a joy to be around and you could see that his friends Cowboy Small, English Bob, and Farr Ranger love him, and were taking care of him. It is very special to have friends like that, isn't it?

Seeing Jim with his Austin buddies reminds me of this quote by Donna Roberts...

"A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart, and

can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words."

Jim, you have many friends and we love you.

Some of Jim's friends made a CD of some of the songs Jim likes.

This is one of the songs.

The words in this song, "Live Like You Were Dying" by Tim McGraw, have a lot of wisdom.

"Live Like You Were Dyin'"

He said I was in my early 40's,

With a lot of life before me,

And a moment came that stopped me on a dime.

I spent most of the next days, lookin' at the x-rays,

Talkin' 'bout the options and talkin' 'bout sweet time.

Asked him when it sank in, that this might really be the real end.

How's it hit ya, when you get that kind of news.

Man what ya do.

And he says,

[Chorus]

I went sky divin',

I went rocky mountain climbin',

I went 2.7 seconds on a bull name Fumanchu.

And I loved deeper,

And I spoke sweeter,

And I gave forgiveness I've been denying,

And he said someday I hope you get the chance,

To live like you were dyin'.

He said I was finally the husband,

That most the time I wasn't.

And I became a friend a friend would like to have.

And all the sudden goin' fishing,

Wasn't such an imposition.

And I went three times that year I lost my dad.

Well I finally read the good book,

And I took a good long hard look at what I'd do

If I could do it all again.

And then.

[Chorus]

Like tomorrow was a gift and you've got eternity

To think about what you do with it,

What could you do with it, what can

I do with with it, what would I do with it.

[Chorus]

Sky divin',

I went rocky mountain climbin',

I went 2.7 seconds on a bull name Fumanchu.

And I loved deeper,

And I spoke sweeter,

And I watched an eagle as it was flyin'.

And he said someday I hope you get the chance,

To live like you were dyin'.

To live like you were dyin'.

To live like you were dyin'.

To live like you were dyin'.

To live like you were dyin'.

Jim,

We plum forgot.

We never got around to drinking a Sassparilla (Sarsaparilla) together.

That sure nuff means you are Cowboy honor bound to show up for next year's EOT.

I want one of them stainless cups with free refills to hang on the Sarsaparilla wagon, if'n you don't mind.

Singin' Sue,

Either way, half-price or free, the tin cup idea seems like a purdy good deal, don't you think?

Today's song from all of us to Jim No Horse.

"Lean On Me" by Bill Withers

Sometimes in our lives we all have pain

We all have sorrow

But if we are wise

We know that there's always tomorrow

Lean on me, when you're not strong

And I'll be your friend

I'll help you carry on

For it won't be long

'Til I'm gonna need

Somebody to lean on

Please swallow your pride

If I have faith you need to borrow

For no one can fill those of your needs

That you won't let show

You just call on me brother, when you need a hand

We all need somebody to lean on

I just might have a problem that you'll understand

We all need somebody to lean on

Lean on me, when you're not strong

And I'll be your friend

I'll help you carry on

For it won't be long

'Til I'm gonna need

Somebody to lean on

You just call on me brother, when you need a hand

We all need somebody to lean on

I just might have a problem that you'll understand

We all need somebody to lean on

If there is a load you have to bear

That you can't carry

I'm right up the road

I'll share your load

If you just call me (call me)

If you need a friend (call me) call me uh huh(call me) if you need a friend (call me)

If you ever need a friend (call me)

Call me (call me) call me (call me) call me

(Call me) call me (call me) if you need a friend

(Call me) call me (call me) call me (call me) call me (call me) call me (call me)

Promised you a Sarsaparilla and walked away from the stand...I owe you big time Pete. And the song...Lean on Me has never meant as much as it did just now when I listened to it again today. Last thursday after EOT I went for my normal 3 week chemo...and am embarrased to say I am still in bed...throwing up... had jello and one piece of roast beef and a small piece of sour dough bread since last thursday...back to chemo room today far IV fluids and anti nausual IVs...Pete...Lean on Me had never felt as good as it did just now..I need all of your prayers if you can spare them...God bless...Hangin On Horse

So good to hear from you.

I told Singin' Sue I was worried about you because you hadn't been on the Forum for about 4 days.

I told her there are 3 reasons I keep the Thread active:

1. So we will all remember to pray for you regularly.

2. There might be another SASS member or family member going through the same thing.

Perhaps the Thread will be a comfort to them, too. We all go through stuff.

3. For me.

I often start at the begining of the Thread and listen to the songs.

They remind me how God took care of me when I was going through health issues.

We are here for you to lean on.

Praying for you.

Lord I Need You

Lord, I come, I confess

Bowing here I find my rest

Without You I fall apart

You're the One that guides my heart

Lord, I need You, oh, I need You

Every hour I need You

My one defense, my righteousness

Oh God, how I need You

Where sin runs deep Your grace is more

Where grace is found is where You are

And where You are, Lord, I am free

Holiness is Christ in me

Lord, I need You, oh, I need You

Every hour I need You

My one defense, my righteousness

Oh God, how I need You

Teach my song to rise to You

When temptation comes my way

And when I cannot stand I'll fall on You

Jesus, You're my hope and stay

Lord, I need You, oh, I need You

Every hour I need You

My one defense, my righteousness

Oh God, how I need You

You're my one defense, my righteousness

Oh God, how I need You

My one defense, my righteousness

Oh God, how I need You

Lord I Need You. By Matt Maher
