Calamity Kris Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Well, things here in Missouri are looking a little bleak. At least I was employed for 6 months longer than I would have been if I had stayed in California........... I have many more years to give an employer who is willing to hire a "seasoned" employee. Any of our Texas pards have insight on jobs and places to live in Texas? I moved out of Houston 20+ years ago so my info is a bit outdated. Thanks much,
Mack Hacker, #60477 Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Are you a short order cook, OBGYN, electrician.......?
The Original Lumpy Gritz Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Are you a short order cook, OBGYN, electrician.......? She's the CIC, when home.......... LG
Mack Hacker, #60477 Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 She's the CIC, when home.......... LG That's a shame. Since you said "she" I assume she is not the solution to the Rangers need for starting pitching.
Calamity Kris Posted April 7, 2014 Author Posted April 7, 2014 We are Financial Analysts. In simple terms we do cradle to grave project costing. Contracts, pricing, estimating, financial controls, EVM......... She's the CIC, when home.......... LG Dang straight, LG.
Mack Hacker, #60477 Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 People and money are pouring into the Midland/Odessa area and other areas of Texas as well. Oil and natural gas exploration is the catalyst. Financial project planning should be a needed skill. Wind energy projects are also in full swing. You might also consider investigating Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control - Dallas.
Frio Kid, SASS #31915 Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Lots of jobs in Houston, probably a few for bean counters as well. From what I hear about Midland/Odessa the problem there is finding a place to live - so many people coming and not enough housing.

Thanks much, Kris are you saying your company moved you to Missouri then layed you off after 6 months ????
Dorado Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 I'd look at the Austin, Dallas, Ft. Worth, Midland/Odessa areas, Might even look at the Killeen/Temple area.

Calamity Kris Posted April 8, 2014 Author Posted April 8, 2014 Kris are you saying your company moved you to Missouri then layed you off after 6 months ???? The short answer is yes, they are about to. It's a lot more complicated than that.
Texas Lizard Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 If it helps, Houston is still in Texas... Texas Lizard Who does live in California....
Yellowhouse Sam # 25171 Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 10-15 years look at Midland-Odessa. Any longer then somewhere between Dallas and San Antonio.
Ramblin Ron, SASS #79381 Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 A lot of the smaller towns in Texas are doing well these days due to the growth in Oil (fracking technology) and our San Angelo is one of them. You can shoot SASS every weekend by driving between San Angelo, Midland, Abilene and Snider. A lot of friendly folks here.
